they need to change how NHL players get paid. People like marner know that he will get a 10 plus million contract to matter how he plays and he is not getting a bonus for playing good so why would he try. He will still get paid 10 plus million so there is no reason for him to try.

They have a good power play in the regular season but there are a lot of weaker teams. What Marner says they need to do in terms of pressure on the puck is something the Bruins are doing.

The power play needs to mix it up and get hungry to punish. Not having Nylander is not an excuse, just ask the Lightning when they lost Stamkos a few years back for a while and still won the Cup. Sammy held it to a respectable score for most of the game, not his fault. Bertuzzi needs to stop taking the stupid penalty. Got away with one in game 2 when it was effectively killed. Tonight it cost a goal. Yeah he got it back but only off a skate. If you want to win any team in the playoffs you have to bulldoze them out of the way, wear them down, and possess the puck. Too many sloppy giveaways. This is ice hockey, not the Harlem Globetrotters. Pressing the pass when the lane isn't there is useless. Hold the puck, skate it in, take a hit, spin and make a decent pass. Anyone wanting to understand what it takes to win the Championship in hockey only need to watch The Last Dance with Michael Jordan. Different sport, yes, but the attitude is there. Lost three straight to the Pistons and immediately went to the trainers and said it's time to bulk up and start dishing out punishment, not taking it. End result, titles. The way I see it, If they bounce back and win in 7 then great! If not I think our GM didnt make any big moves trade deadline cause he knows Tavares contract up soon and cap goes up, Think obviously with a first round exit can get a new coach and move marner for few top touch D, Keep tavares for discount (he'll want to stay in TO for a good deal) and he will be great for cheaper, And get Woll prepared for starting next year, Keep who u got this year and let em Gel together we know Line 1 is good line 2 with Nylander, Marner seems like hes sulking out there not even happy on the goal no life or energy, scared of physical play just isnt that guy
