I don’t suffer from migraines myself, but can they really last for over a week???

He’ll be back Saturday I hope if they’re finally saying what it was? 🤞

Edit: lmao the downvotes.. sorry for asking a question guys 😒

  2. SomeoneElseWould

I get periodic migraines that only last a day (not like Willy) but they’re bad enough where I can barely function that day. Super debilitating. Hope it’s getting better for him.

  3. ThymeIsTight

So those big-head-small-face Willy memes were foreshadowing!

  4. CarlSwagan_

Damn where’s that guy who was in a thread a few days ago saying that he’s probably suffering from migraines from the light reflecting off the ice, hence the switch to the tinted visor

  5. another_plebeian

*boomers: I lived with migraines, this guy is such a sissy*

  6. MrFahrenheit742

Take my brain I don’t need it

  7. TheGapInTysonsTeeth

Tbh, this sounds like an issue that could possibly keep a player out from TDL till the playoffs.

All part of the plan, boys

  8. Spiritual-Zombie6815

Migraines ended Nolan Patrick’s career before it even really started. Hopefully Willy recovers

  9. SasquatchsBigDick

I’ve only had a migraine once in my life and it only lasted about 2 days but goddamn it took me out.

I just remember laying in bed and thinking « my occipital lobe is trying to become my frontal lobe » because that’s exactly how it felt. I couldn’t imagine it lasting for a week, damn.

  10. UnflushableNug

I don’t blame him. The Leafs are giving me migraines, too

  11. dumpandchange

I get migraines sometimes, and at their worst it’s almost like you can *hear* electricity and pretty much everything aggravates it. All you can do is lay in a dark room with a cold compress, peppermint roll on stick, and water and hope it goes away soon while you try not to vomit. It’s awful and I wouldn’t wish it on even my worst enemy.

  12. SNES_Caribou

My mother used to get cluster migraines. I don’t wish that amount of pain on anyone.

  13. Mythic88

what I hear here is. Willy will go on LTIR all season next year with his 11.5M cap hit, and be ready for Game 1 of the playoffs 😉

  14. ScribblingGrymnic

I have had exactly two migraines my whole life. I wouldn’t wish them on anyone except my ex wife

  15. eagleboy444

I hope everyone who’s making fun of him for this, from those just being flippant to those flat out tearing him a new one for being a « wuss, » suffers a bout of severe migraines tonight.

  16. Caleb902

They are brutal but also kind of rare he has went so long without one this brutal? Usually they are a chronic issue. but he’s seemingly went years now with no flare up this big/long. But weird he hasn’t gone and got the « migraine cocktail » from a doctor yet. Just a IV full of drugs that usually knock them out in severe cases. Though maybe some of those are on the banned substance list I’m not sure.

  17. Live-Tea4051

My mom suffers from basically a permanent migraine most days they are tolerable kind of like waking up slightly dehydrated that feeling others are morphine drip kind of bad. Had them for about 10 years now. So hope it isnt that. Just came out of no where.

  18. Blue_KikiT92

Oh man, I feel you and I’m really sorry. Get well homie !

  19. BallHarness

Just a reminder to everyone that migraines are not simply a bad headache. They are debilitating

  20. haloimplant

Ah yes the reverse Stone where mysterious injuries start at playoffs instead of ending

  21. shpeucher

I’m in the middle of a migraine that started yesterday afternoon and really picked up into the evening. I slept through it and it’s still there at 24 hrs now. It really sucks

  22. elcabeza79

Vegas, the team that’s been in 3 SCF’s in 6 years of existence and won a Cup:

2 weeks *before* trade deadline: star player gets a lacerated spleen, freeing up $10M in cap space to spend at the deadline. $10M player returns for game one of the playoffs as the cap is irrelevant.

Leafs, the team that hasn’t seen a SCF in 57 years:

2 weeks *after* the deadline: star player goes down with a high ankle sprain, so the $11M in cap space can’t be spent on new players. As soon as the playoffs begin, a star player suddenly gets sidelined by… migraines, which has never been a significant issue with respect to missing games.

It’s so much fun to be a Leafs fan! GO BUDS!

Disclaimer: I’m not shitting on Willy. I’m shitting on the unlucky circumstances.

  23. rougekhmero

Well at least he doesn’t have to worry about home games being too loud.

Kidding aside this really sucks because it’s not just something you can heal up from and be ready to go. Totally unpredictable. Also because they’re often induced by stress I can only imagine the stress of entering the playoffs in a Leafs jersey isn’t any help.

  24. squinla3

I just watched an episode of House, I know what to do. I prescribe LSD and anti depressants thats the cure according to Gregory

  25. MyRail5

I get migraines every April. They usually go away after the first round.

  26. Hoardzunit

Fucking atrocious media strikes again and leaks his health information and ailments. Beyond ridiculous. This is exactly why sports fans have been railing on the media so hard lately.

  27. -KevinAndEarth-

He’s a jerk for getting migranes when it matters most. Shame on you Willy. Get better soon.

  28. paranrml-inactivity

Ajovy and Nurtec aren’t available in Canada.

  29. zorrospapa

I get migraines before I have to do something I don’t want to do as well.

  30. Mental-Mushroom

Unfortunately, there’s no playing through a migrane.

Being surrounded by all of that light would basically paralyze me. Everyone is different, but once thing that’s probably the same for everyone who has suffered through migraines, is you’re as good as useless when you have one.

  31. PenguinsExArmyVet

Some migraines can cause jumbled speech and inability to think coherently Sight is affected early on as well before the pain kicks in

  32. So I don’t get migraines but my wife does. So I hear about how brutal they are. So if Willy is suffering then why is he practicing so much and looking really good at it?

  33. spicolispizza

I wonder if he’s suffering from cluster headaches and if anyone has explored Psilocybin even in micro doses to treat them.

I’ve had them before and just a little bit every few years has kept them from ever coming back, at least that’s what I tell myself. 😃

  34. Bobbyoot47

That’s tough. Feel bad for the guy. Migraines are absolutely dreadful. Looking around social media today and when the topic came up a lot of people responded saying they were suffering from migraines quite often for the first time ever.

  35. Drew_You_To_91

As much as this sucks, all this discussion around migraines has made me feel so understood because as someone that gets them, it’s so frustrating to constantly have to explain them to people who’ve been lucky to never get them. As for Willy I seriously hope this is just a bad episode and not an issue that continually worsens. I know he’s battled them before but i hope he never gets a worse one than this one. It’s something totally out of his control and I’m sure he’s dying to get back out there.

  36. RandyMarsh_RedditAcc

Watching game 1 and 3 gave me migraines too

  37. robotinforest

Someone get this guy some mushrooms

  38. Cyrakhis

Migraines after an « Upper body injury » sounds like a concussion =T

  39. PlasticFlute1

I can’t believe he got this from a soccer ball

  40. Specialized24

Only if I could take work off cause I have migraines.. And make $$$$… unfortunately not reality.. there’s Advil

  41. ExpensiveDig1561

Why should I believe anything the Leafs say.
