Mods feel free to delete- I know it’s a Utah post. I just thought this was extremely ridiculous given the hand wringing over remediation dollars in Tempe

I’m so glad the NHL chose to get themselves into this situation again

The irony is that the Coyotes moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix with central arena hopes, playing temporarily in a non-ideal building downtown, and those hopes never happened.
They broke ground on a Scottsdale location, but it never came to fruition.
The Utah situation is almost a complete copy of the Coyotes original Arizona situation. Basketball arena with shit sight lines, and no guarantee of a central permanent arena.
I concede that it’s likely Smith actually gets his done, but all sorts of things could come into play to keep it from happening. From a recession to voters rejecting an arena bid, there is no guarantee that something gets done.

The whole deal was a sham from the beginning. SLC will run into the same issues we did here and in time the team will once again be bought out and relocated
