What's funny is, alot of you thought Vegas would steamroll Dallas, Toronto would beat Boston. Cmon even a blind squid knows ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THE PLAYOFFS. Literally nobody thought the canucks would even make the playoffs. Win the division, Norris finalist/winner, Vezina finalist, Lady Byng finalist, Jack Adam's finalist. Win round 1. All without mcjesus, Leon. Oh ya, and won every game against them this season. You're all popularity simps.
Close series. I’m saying Edmonton in 6 or 7 but who knows
"The Canucks can't score" … the people who say that did not watch how Nashville played. Saros was on fire and the Preds team had a suffocating playstyle that any team would have struggled offensively against. People forget the Canucks have had runaway goal games in the regular season.
The fact people think the Oilers are just going run over the Canucks makes me laugh. It's going to be a very high energy/speed series. I prefer the Canucks to win but I wouldn't mind seeing McDavid get a cup.
If they can win a series with a 23 year old 3rd string goalie one game and come back from badly losing a game by the 3rd to winning in overtime one of the previous games then I like their chances a slight bit more than the projections portray them.
This series is up for grabs for either team. I think one of the two is out for revenge. I don't know if that makes a difference, but I know it does for the Oilers. Does that translate into 4 dubs? We'll see. Going to be awesome hockey either way, and it's great for Canada.
Wow… the series hasn't even started and the Canuckleheads are already whingeing.
Every round is like a new season. That reasoning is so dumb.
That "model" underestimates the Canucks defense and goal tending.
But if you’ve been watching the Oilers, it does seem like McDavid and Leon have a gear or two more, seems like they weren’t trying. seems like they were just pacing themselves through the series, if that makes sense
Im an oilers fan and of course i think oilers will beat them, but honestly the canucks have really done well this year, for a team that wasnt expected to even make the playoffs theyve really turned the team around. Give them some experience and a year or two and look out. Canucks fans dont just jump off the wagon if they dont go all the way the first year back. They dont call it the hardest trophy to win in sports for nothing
Lmao ''according to the model'' 🤓.
This is for gambling people.
Odds are there to be beaten. Teams with the best odds don't always win, that's why the games are being played.
Canucks fan, I’m thinking oil in 7 not because of scoring or other factors like PK, I think Vancouver is just more physically beat up. Hugh’s took a lot of damage as did Garland and most of the defense. The oil are pretty healthy at present.
Canucks in 6 max… book it👊🏻💯
Models are nice, but there's a reason they play the games…
Like the last four games
Lol Oilers without Conner mcdavid are as lethal as Columbus
We just gotta prepare mentally and phisically as a team and as fans to win the first game! Thats all we need to do, everything else does not matter atm
As a Canucks fan, I’m worried about lack of scoring. However, if they keep up the offensive pressure of late, the goaltending will take care of itself. I still predict Edmonton in 7. It up to Vancouber tonight prove me wrong. And I do predict at least two shutouts for Silov
You should go on the nuckhead podcast he predicted a good Canucks team
This take is inflammatory and I say that as an Oilers fan.
The odds of Vancouver sweeping the season series at the beginning of the season were far worse… for the record. Statistics are simply that, statistics. Nobody picked Vancouver to sweep the season series either, yet it happened. Sometimes, a team just matches up well against another team. Are we going to ignore now all the statistics Vancouver has from the season series? Incredibly high shooting accuracy? Four lines that dominated play? A save percentage that defied any statistician? People that think the oilers are going to breeze past Vancouver are delusional!
The athletic always just have the absolute worse articles and predictions I honestly can't stand them. Canucks sweeping the Oilers after they made those claims would be glorious
I don't think 74% Oilers vs. 26% Canucks is right, but I do think that the Oilers are favourites to win. I'd be inclined to think its more of a 60-40 or maybe 65-35. Rick Tocchet definitely has it in him to out coach Knoblauch, and if the Canucks D can clog up the neutral zone to stop the speed of McDavid then there's definitely a Canucks win to be seen. Still, that does entail shutting down McDavid… which is a big ask of any D.
Canucks had a good year. Oilers in 5.
Oilers in 5! Look at the numbers!
Canucks have a very balanced four lines and defensively now much better too. Canucks in six!
I think people are going going to be surprised…again
Lol. Sure Canucks have already achieved what they needed to this season to make this season a success, so it’s all gravy from this point on. If they lose, focus would turn to how to sustain their dominance in the Pacific and roster management in the summer etc. Nobody in their wildest dreams felt the Canucks had a chance at the cup this year so I take this all in stride. Oilers not so much because if they lose their season would be an unmitigated disaster to a level even the Leafs would not rival. So I’m very happy to have everyone say the Canucks have no chance. Although how division champion would have no chance against a rival they beat up on all season long is a bit beyond me. Tocchet has the Canucks playing exactly the type of smash mouth hockey they need to frustrate the Oilers and the Canuck offence hasn’t exactly disappeared either the pressure is on the Oilers; have they finally figured out how to win after 10 years of McDavid? They haven’t figured it out before, despite being picked for the cup year after year, but stranger things could happen who knows?
You made a good point in stating that Nashville's shot-blocking and clog-it-up style had an impact on the few number of shots the Canucks could have and the few goals that they could score. The thing is, I don't see the Oilers defence sacrificing their bodies blocking shots like the Predators did, and though Skinner has played very well in the second half of the season, he is not Saros, so to suggest the Canucks would just be steamrolled by the Oilers is just silly… I think the Oilers is the hotter team right now, but if the Canucks can play disciplined hockey and stay out of the box, I actually think the Canucks have much better than a puncher's chance to win this series.
Canucks in 6….Athletic bankrupt and out of business in 2 years….
Since the All-Star break, one team in the West had a better record than the Oilers. That was the Nashville Predators, who the Canucks just eliminated. No one wanted to draw the Preds in the opening round, because they were so good. The Canucks were 4-0 against Edmonton during the regular season. The Oilers will be tough but don't count the Canucks out.
How about if I think that the Oilers chances against Vancouver are terrible? GCG!
The difference between the Oilers and Canucks is that Edmonton is Canadian and Vancouver is not. Let the uneducated make stupid remarks.
