We’re good at scoring on our first shot, let’s do that lol

  2. Shaitan34

Oh Ya!!! We’re gonna put Demko back in then!!!!

  3. skookumchucknuck

If this goes bad early for Edmonton, and it very well could, we may see jerseys hitting the ice -again- before this game is done.

Not sure I have ever seen a team roll the dice like this in a game 4.

Predicting a full meltdown tonight and the boys to come home 3-1.

  4. Rand_University81

Let’s light his ass up. We’re coming back to Vancouver up 3-1.

  5. Gamesus10

Hopefully he doesn’t pull a silovs lol

Desperation play by Oilers. They pulled their starter who was a big part of the 16 game win streak and now they are going with a guy who got the 12 wins in 23 games.

The Oilers play differently in front of Pickard, similar to how Canucks are in front of DeSmith. I don’t think they fully trust their goalies, so it’ll be interesting if they stay back to support Pickard more.

Hopefully this opens up more chances for the Canucks.

Bold move. Lots of pressure to put on a journeyman goalie who last played a full game on April 18th.

This is friggin’ amazing! Kris Knob is doing the opposite of EVERYTHING he did during the regular season to be successful. 1. Trusted his starting goalie; 2. Trusted his bottom 6 with minutes.

If we could just find a way to get ole knobby to bench McDavid and DrySaddle… hmmmmm…

  9. Greenarrowfan

we dont do well against backup goalie.

i sure canucks planned the oiler could switch goalie.

Pickard’s 4 starts vs playoff teams this season:

    4 GA, .875 SV% vs Florida (L)

    5 GA, .872 SV% vs Florida (L)

    3 GA, .889 SV% vs Dallas (W)

    5 GA, .844 SV% vs Dallas (L)

cant wait to hear all the, canucks only won because oilers have to use their backup excuse

  12. hannah_nj

if Pickard plays the way he did in the regular season (putting up perfectly average numbers), that would have been enough for Edmonton to win the first few games. However, part of the reason Skinner’s numbers look *so* bad this series is because we barely shoot, so anything he lets in (even if it’s on a high danger chance) will plummet his save %, so hopefully we can do the same thing here haha.

I like it when *our* backup is the only secret weapon

  13. Technical-Match-5202

Canucks with 40 shots plus.. shoot every where … lets see

  14. He might do well or he might do just as bad, we really won’t know until game time!

  15. vancityxray

Gotta take advantage because now they’ve lost all faith in skinner.

  16. Shaftell

I think if they even got average goaltending, it might be a different series so I’m a little concerned haha. We are good at making backup goalies look elite.

  17. Chezzey90

Mentally different from Silovs in that Silovs was forced in and had no expectations along with lack of experience. He wasn’t expecting to be better than Demko or Casey. Just go out and play. In Pickard’s case he is expected to be an improvement or at least in his mind since they have the choice to put him in over a healthy Skinner. It could work out and he is a beast but it’s certainly not the same circumstances. It’s a lot of pressure.

  18. y2kcockroach

The Oilers have three problems right now: an over-reliance on their first line, a struggling defence, and sub-average goal-tending. A lot of people are pointing fingers at Skinner, but his defence hasn’t really helped him either, and they cannot play McDrai for close to 30 minutes each game and maintain that pace.

They might have addressed the goal-tending issue, but the other two problems remain. As everyone knows (or should know), Tocchet doesn’t care for « high volume » shots, but for effective shots. On that metric, the Oilers had a 8-9 lead in the last game. On the shots that matter, Pickard will be tested.

To hear the Oilers fans on their sub, having their starter yanked after 15 shots, and now going with their backup just saved their series. We’ll see. I think that we’ve seen the best of the Oilers to this point, and it isn’t good enough. Go Canucks!

  19. Frumbleabumb

Who cares – play hard boys – doesn’t matter who’s in net. Play hard

  20. bringbackdavebabych

Man, if the Canucks can pepper him and rattle his confidence too, imagine how rattled their entire team will be.

I’d like to think they are one Lidstrom-Cloutier centre ice goal away from implosion. Probably just wishful thinking, but imagine.

  21. Im2oldForthisShitt

quick someone go sign the borg

  22. HappyHapless

Proceed with caution. Cockiness has a way of backfiring. Remember how cocky Oilers and Preds fans were when we started playing Silovs. Let’s just play our game and get pucks on the net.

  23. insignificance424

Let’s hope this guy doesn’t pull a Silovs

  24. acrunchycaptain

If this doesn’t work out, do they go back to Skinner? His confidence has to be completely shot at this point.

  25. meanseanbean

Oilers online complaining that the Canucks are only ahead because of goaltending is hilarious. Our Vezina boy is dead and our backup got hurt, and you’re hard done by?

  26. ManateeMilkShake

We need to get way more shots on net than the previous 3 games. Hopefully Oilers playing more defensive in protecting their goalie allows us to be a bit more on offence.

  27. readytogetstarted

i don’t know what skinner even did wrong in the last game. who is stopping those boeser shots? boeser was left completely wide open with all the time in the world. it’s in no matter what goalie. maybe that lindholm goal?

boeser -> lindholm ‘tip’. extremely hard save.

boeser left wide open by connor mcdavid with all day to rip it and hits the perfect spot. impossible save.

boeser in front. extremely hard save.

lindholm goal (maybe could’ve had it?)

i didn’t understand skinner being pulled at all.

  28. StarkStorm

Pickard has played for a bit, any notes on him?

  29. whokilledboystaunton

    Toast your waffles, Oilers fans

  30. MrBesmirchingCommies

We will crush his spirit as we crushed Skinners.

  31. Plane-Buyer

We beat a vezina finalist last round, I’m not worried about pickard lol

  32. LittleBig_1

Oilers in shambles and the Canucks ready to go to war on behalf of Soucy? Going to be a good one tonight

  33. its_the_luge

It doesn’t matter who starts for them cuz it doesn’t change the way we play. Saros was excellent in the last series but ultimately it was team defense that made the difference.

  34. observemedia

We have shown adaptability, resilience and a bond that special teams showcase. We continue to play our game (to the best of human emotion influence) and it’s worked. Our game, one game at a time. Doesn’t matter who’s in the pipes. Play team defence, use our team speed to counter, keep possession over lottery shots. They are a team at the heart of that word. It’s been a joy to watch. This is just another chapter in their story. Go Canucks Go.

  35. marcosbowser

I hope Brock gives him the old “hat tricks on Oilers goalies” treatment
