No – it’s still much more likely than not that we do not advance. Vegas / Odds are currently 75% chance Rangers advance – seems about right.

Let’s beat them Thursday and then we can start to have this discussion. Still an uphill battle right now.

I’m not liking all these posts. Canes lost 3 in a row to the Rangers. They can’t have an off night, it’s still in the Rangers hands. Canes need to come out and destroy them in game 6, then game 7 is a complete crap shoot. I want their effort to be the same as it has been.

As always we will win or we will lose and which ever happens will have (next to) nothing to do with superstitions, jinxes, curses, or narratives.

You win the game you are playing then you move on to winning the next one. You built a story about AFTER if it finished, if at all.

Yeah, let’s wait until Thursday to say stuff like this. None of our games have been easy. We’ve had 2 OTs. 4 games only won by 1 goal. It’s going to be slog through the next 2 games, and I would love nothing more than for us to win both, but winning 4 in a row is super hard to do even against mid teams. We’re playing the best team in the league, so there isn’t a sure win here by any means.

Our boys can absolutely win if they have their full determination put into it, but man is it going to be a stressful watch.

The point is take the « OMG Reverse sweep it’s only been done 4 time since the Prussian Empire fell… » narrative out of the picture and all we have to do is beat the Rangers twice. That’s unlikely (statistically), it’s going to be a difficult challenge, but it’s not the kind of nearly impossible bigfoot riding an albino unicorn occurrence you’d have to recreate your entire worldview to account for if it happened.

We’ve been in series before where we had about a 1 in 4 chance going into it and we won some of them, lost series we had a bigger chance of winning. That’s how life works. These are statistical guesses, not prophecies. If you want stuff that happens because it makes the best stories watch a TV show, not sports.

Again if we were 2-3 but hadn’t lost 3 in a row, if we had won the first one at Madison Square Garden but dropped the last one let’s say, our odds would be exactly the same but the « narrative » would be different for no real reason.

    That title….

Do people not realize that what we have done is miraculous already? The odds of us winning two more games against literally the best team in the league are very very small.

Less of the video and more of focusing about what needs to happen tomorrow. Getting ahead of ourselves is just asking for us to disappoint.

The same rangers core absolutely destroyed us 6-1 in our barn in game 7 just two years ago.

We had 1 bad period where we gave up a SHG to King Elbow.

    I thought that was it.

Then we had an extremely good period where we got all the lucky bounces, everything was going our way, etc etc.

To be delusional and say the Rangers are a sinking ship, and all these other comments about being overconfident in taking the series are extremely premature.

This will be insane to come back from. Statistically improvable.

    BUT

If we play our brand of Canes hockey, and somehow get our Penalty Kill (should be much better with Pesce in), and our Power Play back to normal and not -1/19, or whatever it is right now, I see us winning.

Those are big IF’s though. There’s no guarantee the Rags don’t come out and wipe us in Game 6.

They are NOT Boston, who choked out to the Panthers last year during their 3-4 demise.

This is a dangerously stacked team that plays us extremely well, and antagonizes our entire system.

The first 3 games made it abundantly clear that Rod gets frazzled sometimes facing adversity and he is NOT quick to adapt. Advantage: Laviolette in that department.

To think that they won’t be grinding their gears all game during Game 6 is delusional.

ALL THAT BEING SAID FUCK THE RAGS

    CANES IN 7

Chill with these posts. Let’s just support the boys. We got this.

Bad bad….shhhhhh. We have ONE game and only that ONE to focus on. Thursday’s.

  11. ZorroMcChucknorris

We are back on serve. That is all. We just need to win Thursday night and let Game 7 be what it is.

This is all so silly, and why other fans badmouth the Canes fanbase. Celebrating this stuff makes it look like we’ve been following hockey for 2-3 years tops.

The Rangers have lost twice in a row. That’s it. They’re not sinking. It takes away from what the Canes have done and sets us up to be laughing stocks again, even after making this great comeback

Who are these people and why should I be interested in their opinions?
