  1. If you really look at his come up, read that article in the athletic, you will see that Pickard just needed a chance to show what he can do under high pressure situations in the NHL. He went toe to toe with Lundquist at the world championships. He's got what it take between the ears for the playoffs

  2. Going forward it's not where you want to be. Who will collapse in net because it will happen. Both guys in net's history sez so. Both Vancouver wins should have been Edmonton's. Skinner's fault. No more Skinner apologies or explanations. Pickard's in net next game. He only has to stop 20 tops.

  3. calvin has been around he has worked his ass off to get this opportunity.happy for calvin a great story.his teammates attest to his attitude and is liked by the guys a pro a guy you want around the locker room.great story Go Calvin

  4. Pick needs to finish out this series. Canucks have always had skinners number. You want to win, knobs did what Woody wouldn't do last time….change skinner out for Soups. Knobs at least is smarter. Play pick n let it ride.

  5. I believe the defence have embraced the Paul Coffey advice…..”jump up in the play, or make one or we’ll get someone who will “ a little too overboard..

  6. Stuart Skinner is not intense enough for the playoffs. He might make a fine backup goalie, but he just doesn't care about winning enough to make the big saves. This is nothing new. We've been watching the Oilers outshoot and outplay opponents in the playoffs for three years now, only to be sunk by lazy goals or at least mediocre performance by Skinner in the second round, against stronger teams.

Pickard is mentally tougher, at a tough time of year.

  7. Pichard was the choice that should have been in the lineup far more then he was all along. I consider not using him till game 90 is bad coaching mistake. Better late then never.

  8. I think you should definitely give skinner another crack at it……but I live in Vancouver lol

  9. I think Pickard deserves the start on Thursday, but then you go back to Skinner in game 6. Ultimately Skinner is the guy who got the team to where they are now.

  10. Although Pickard deserves another start I believe Skinnerwill get the start. Players in front of Pickard tend to play much better defensively when Pickard is in net. Now that they have been reminded of the important acne and the fact that they can play defensively, they will be in a better position to limit dangerous chances with Skinner between the pipes. Not to take away from Pickard play but he had little more than routine saves to make in the night. Skinner is a better goalie when he gets help from those in front of him. Vancouver will be playing much better tonight. If Pickard starts he will likely end up looking nothing like he did in game 4.

I say with a game off to rest mentally and with the team thinking defence that it should be a very close game, and likely low scoring. If one team runs away with it I believe Silovs would be the one to struggle. Should be a good game.

  11. Skinner has been kind of the same all year. Eventually he hits a rough (SHORT) stretch.. usually he bounces back right away, but he has not in this series. I do believe he will be back, though. Pickard played good enough in Game 4… really what the team needed.. just average goaltending (that is not a critique at Pickard but rather that they have not been getting average goaltending). I'd give Pickard game 5 today too. My reasoning for that is two fold: 1) Pickard played well enough to get the game. 2) I don't think it's a good idea to put Skinner back in the net in Vancouver where they no doubt will be hexing him before puck drop and on. It shouldn't affect an NHL goalie, but I think it's added some nervousness for him.

Depending on how game 5 goes, I may go back to Skinner back in Edmonton. He is still the guy.

  12. If a goalie wins there's no reason to take them out, every Stanley cup team rides with the hot hand, goaltending 101. Team hockey 101. The goalies future rests solely on himself. The goalies I played with are a very unique characters. Sometimes the team in front of you doesn't play well but you are the scapegoat or the hero.

  13. The thing with Pickard is that he's calm in the crease. Skinner on the other hand. Any small commotion in front of the net and hes flopping all over the place.

  14. These guys don’t know anything. You don’t have to be a coach to know who sucks and who doesn’t.
