  1. Blues fans didn't want Berube fired. Our soft players got him fired by a weak GM who didn't take ownership of this crap team. Toronto will only benefit from Berube. He's a great coach. Blues will be just ok for a while.

  2. Answer from a DH Blues fan…

When, "Cheif", came into the head Blues coaching job, Blues fans, who known what type of coach/ person he was, were very excited because not only did we know that he could get the players to comit to their on ice assignments, whilst at the same time he seemed to captivate the locker room and get the guys to play for each other. That group became very tight. The 2019 Blues became a relentless, hard on the puck, team style that won the SC, and only Berube was able to bring that type of styled game out of that team. No question about it, he's the right man for the job. All he needs is just the guys to commit 💯 for him.

Edit: He doesnt have Steve Ott right next to him anymore, though!? Lol😮

  3. From STL, Chief is most highly respected. He turned guys who fought in practice to those who brought home the cup.

Some were hoping that they would bring him back!!!

  4. Wonder if Marner will kill this guys career too. Hes gonna ask him to work garder like Babs did lol. Watch.

  5. A life long blues fan…Berube will not placate to the feelings of ur talent..he will get the best out of them or grind them to dust trying..he will get them to block shots and crash the net and be overall more bought in

  6. Babcock wasn't a hardass, he was just an asshole who went on a power trip and had his team lose all desire to compete under him. Keefe is always very popular and well liked by his players, but he lacks credibility when trying to be tough and motivating.

Berube, on PAPER, seems like exactly what the Leafs need: someone who's tough, but fair. Someone not afraid to call people out who aren't pulling their weight, but can still rally a team to believe in themselves, and in him. He's someone players will RESPECT.

ON PAPER, at least. We'll just have to see in the Fall whether that actually plays out or not.

  7. Treliving didn’t get fired in Calgary. He quit because the owner would not let him fire Sutter. The team quit on Sutter, and they didn’t like him.

  8. If your coach has input on who you trade and who you trade for, he might be able to create a competitive team. Those Bowman teams were on another level.

  9. The only things that motivates human beings are pleasure and pain. It seems the only tool of pain for a coach in this day and age is the healthy scratch. If that is so then the second the big egos behave like printshop prima donnas, healthy scratch.

  10. The Leafs aren’t Berube’s second team. He was the head coach for the Flyers, then the Blues, then the Leafs!

  11. As a Blues fan, the current Leafs roster won't work with Berube. Wouldn't be surprised if some of them might want to be moved because of Berube, and that will be a good thing for the team.

  12. 3:52 That's a good take. Why didn't shanahan takeover after dubus left and be the GM… Giving more time to really search

  13. They should get Darcy K from Washington for next year. Maybe you can get a miracle season like Colorado in 22.

  14. You need to watch his pregame speech before game 7 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final. He'll get them fired up.

  15. As a Panther fan, I'd love nothing more than the troubles remain in Toronto.

HOWEVER, objectively speaking. Berube is step 1. Step 2: Marner, Tavares must go. Step 3: You must get an elite goalie. Step 4: You need two top pair defensemen with a big bag of knuckles. Nothing short of this is going to improve the Leafs chances, assuming they make it to the playoffs.

  16. keefe and Brind'Amour are the same in this respect, saddled with goalies who can't win the big game.

  17. If Keefe is an Xs and Os guy, why was Steve constantly saying that he got his head stuffed into a locker by the opposing coach in the playoffs?

  18. That statistic about head coaches makes it seem dire about the future of the Leafs if there has literally been only one coach that has won more than one Stanley cup with different teams….. However A change is needed in coaching and players and hoping and praying that this new season will begin with some bright hope

  19. As a Blues fan… I’m still extremely disappointed Chief is no longer behind our bench. The issues we’re dealing with had nothing to do with coaching and our GM was feeling the pressure.

  20. Nothing will change of significance. ScotiaBank Arena will have same 41 Home dates jammed full of blind loyalty. And that’s all that really matters.

  21. Boy oh boy, I usually love to be right, but seeing Steve now… I am genuinely concerned about how grotesquely fat Steve’s head is getting.

  22. Blues fan here…I would advise patience. I personally think the team makeup still needs to be addressed, otherwise (as Steve as said before) they will still be a really good team but never great. In 2018-2019 for the Blues, our expectations at the start that season were very high, and it was evident to everyone on the team that they were severely underperforming. Things didn't change much at first – it was only until Binnington came up that the team started to turn it around. The buy-in began with a strong win after going 5-5. My advice for the Leafs fans would be to not set your expectations until you've seen about a month of the season, and don't be surprised if the record isn't great at first. Give it time.

  23. The Leafs issue is their poor structure of the Core 4. Does this coach get any say in upgrades to the Leafs Core 4 playoff disappointments?
