I’m just not a fan of benching Kakko against Florida. We need to drive possession and we are benching one of our better possesion drivers so Rempe can play 6 minutes. Watching last game my take away is more so we need to be faster and more skilled than tougher.
Kakko needs to be traded. He isn’t cutting it offensively at all. He makes all these moves with the puck and then dishes it off. He’s not an assist guy and he’s not scoring goals like he should. I’m sure he’s good, but he’s not working on this team.
I can see why they went for Roslovic but the big mistake they made was not aiming higher at the deadline.
In Rempe we trust 🙏🏻

(sigh)………It hurts. It really hurts to say it. But I support the decision.
I wanna knee jerk reaction here and say how unfair this is. How Wenberg has been a bust of a 3rd line center in the offensive zone. But being objective? What is Kakko offering right now? He hardly ever goes to the net despite having a large frame, he’s not setting up anyone to score. He rarely puts himself in a position to score at high danger areas.
His only goal was a fluke pretty much.
He forechecks along the boards well. But so does Cuyle who is a rookie. So does Rempe, who also adds a ton of emotional value to the team right now.
This is now coach #3 that is basically giving up on him and the second one in the playoffs. It’s Year 5.
I think this may be the end for our boy. I love him. I think he got a raw AF deal to come to the NHL during covid knowing hardly any English with celiac disease. It doesn’t get worse than that.
But that’s also now going to be 5 years ago. How much more rope can he earn?
I’m sure I’ll get emotional downvotes. But the former #2 pick in the draft has 2 points in 11 games, which, for the record, as someone who isn’t a crazed Rempe fan, is nevertheless the number of points Rempe has…..in 4 fewer games.
Looking at the roster as is, what spot should he have? Should Cuyle one of our team leaders in hits sit? Roslovic who is one of our most productive 5 v 5 forwards in the playoffs? Vesey who is one of our best penalty killers? Chytl? Instead of just downvoting, please. I’d love to hear the case for who else sits right now and whose spot Kakko takes.

Rempe and Kakko both stayed out extra after the morning skate, so I don’t think we know who will actually play until tonight.

Beyond just the physicality, Rempe will create more powerplay time for both teams. Not sure I agree with KK being the one to sit but Rempe is needed. We can’t have another game played basically entirely at 5v5.

I agree that Kakko has been a complete non-factor, but the 3rd line has been good all playoffs.

It’s a bad look for kakko that chytil gets his spot basically. Chytil has barely played but is considered a better option atm

Roll 4 and use Rempe sparingly. Rotate every winger through that 4th line when Rempe sits.
I hate it, but I hope they win anyway.

This seems like a terrible decision to me, for this game, this series, and his future with the team. He might not being scoring, but he is doing everything else great!
Kakko has been a complete no show in playoffs. He’s earned this demotion.
Look, unless he’s specifically dressing to fight somebody and get the boys going, then he might as well be scratched.

Rempe has to be in the lineup and whether it is kakko or rossy whom sits doesn’t matter to me. Rossy has earned his spot more so than kakko. Sure kakko has done some of the little things well, but if u can’t contribute on the score sheet in a top 9 role, maybe watching from the press box will help.

Cuylle-chytil-kakko
Goodrow-wennberg-vesey
As the bottom 6. Gives kakko a goal scorer. If Chytil was in wennbergs spot Kakko has probably another 4 assists at least this playoffs plus whatever Chytil can help set up. I’m a fan of kakko and what he brings outside of points, take away the second overall tag with him he’s a great player that can be an impactful player defensively and a complimentary player on a line.
Jesus christ that is dumb. Basically our best defensive winger. Sure, he has not become what everyone thought, but he’s a damn good play driving defensive winger. Just absolutely no finishing ability. Rempe is a possesion black hole that hits a guy and sits for 55 minutes.
Weird because I think Kakko had one of his better games against FLA game 1.

Sobering thought: if Kakko is indeed a healthy scratch tonight and the team bounces back without him there is a chance that he’s played his last game as a Ranger.
That third line is gonna get caved without Kakko on it. Wennberg is useless and Roslovic gets pushed around and avoids hits.
