Poop. Its all a metaphor for poop.
Plumber usually goes to the defensive player of the game and the painter usually goes to the offensive player of the game. The players are chosen by last winner. Awards are only handed out after a win.
Last year we had the jacket that goes to the player of the game, McDavid decided to change things up and make it 2 instead of one.
Plumber is for the guy who grinds or mucks or generally plays ugly and gets things done. The paintbrush is for the guy who shows the nearest skill or finesse play.
McDavid pushed this idea this season. I think he realized that the standard « player of the game » awards were only going to one or two guys, so wanted something that everyone would have a chance to get. Spread the recognition around.
It’s a bit corny, but it seems to work – a lot of guys who don’t traditionally get recognized have been awarded plungers or paintbrushes.
So this is why the Oilers have been playing so well defensively 🤔🤔
