  1. Detroit is kinda weird. The rebuilt takes very long, and I don't see the makings of the Cup contender there. I see a potential playoff team that will make 2nd Round every once in a while.

  2. Ruff is best hire in Buff since Ruff….not even close…sad with group of coaches and GMs since Regier and Ruff were let go

  3. If Buffalo and Ottawa don't upgrade their goaltending and bring in the right veterans (not just stop gap players who have played a lot of games) they're probably in the same place again next season. The desperate need to upgrade goaltending is a common NHL problem, partly due to Hockey Canada spending too much money covering up scandals and not enough supporting the development of the next generation of goalies. The Oilers and Maple Leafs are like funhouse mirror images of each other, in terms of weaknesses on the blueline, goaltending, and depth, but one team's top players seem to do a lot better in the playoffs.

  4. Put this guy in a Suit and Tie and a real studio.
Locker room suite and 70's technology with the whiteboard is holding you back.

  5. Enjoyed your video as usual. Really hope the NHL doesn't expand any further. There IS such a thing as over-expanding your franchises to the point where your business is too big for its own good. And as stupid as this sounds, 32 franchises is a satisfying number. It's perfectly binary and fills 4 divisions compactly. Where does the NHL need to expand that hasn't been tried already? Leave it alone.

  6. For the oilers, it helps ken holland that he had 2 of the top 5 players in the entire world already there and under contract.

  7. As a jets fan, I felt Hely didn’t LOOK good on numerous occasions against Avs where he got caught wildly out of position. Now it could be that the Avs being so incredibly fast somewhat shredded the Jets defence and Hely was attempting to compensate. All I know is that in those instances he didn’t LOOK like a proficient goalie because as the puck was about to enter the net, he, uncharacteristically, had zero chance to prevent that. I agree Jets are a really good regular season team that needs to learn to get good in the playoffs.

  8. pretty amazing the Rangers are one of 11 teams since 2018-19 to have over .600 win% considering Feb 2018 is when they sent out the letter and officially started their rebuild…and they had Quinn and Gallant as coaches for the next five years lol….

  9. As an Islanders fan, I just want to say that I'm living in a nightmare watching the Rangers en route to the cup.

  10. Montreal , we got A LOT of prospect in the making. Suzuki, Caufield , slaf , Xhekaj and Guhle are only the beginning.

    Wait till Mailloux , Mesar , xhekaj 2 , Reinbacher , Fowler arrives…

  11. I love the 32 teams content. It shows how rounded Shannon is and encourages hockey fans to watch teams another than their own.

  12. Jets fan here. you're right, hellebuyck was shit in the playoffs. In the regular season if Hellebuyck was off, Brossoit would get a game, and it'd motivate hellebuyck to play well the next game. coach decided to double- and triple-down on hellebuyck despite actually BAD play at times. when we needed saves, particular 3rd period saves, he didn't give us that. and the coach didn't give us Brossoit. He also didn't give us our #6 scorer (cole perfetti) til game 5. Coaching in the playoffs is all about how you react and adjust to an opponent that is reacting and adjusting to you. colorado adjusted their play to us, and the jets did not adjust at all. saying things like "we just gotta focus on our game". Now we're sitting here wondering if we're gonna get the exact same thing coaching-wise from Arniel that we got from Bowness.

  13. 27:04 — Bringing up Boston as a counterpoint to Tampa Bay’s low-tax situation WITHOUT noting the…prominent tax structure of Massachusetts was a genuine surprise.

  14. I think the Utah AHL affiliate should be in either Provo Utah or Cheyenne Wyoming. Both relatively close to Salt Lake. Somewhere in Idaho or Montana would work too

  15. I wonder if Canadiens fans will be as positive if they miss they playoffs 4-5 years in a row which has never happened in thier nhl run and there entire history

  16. Sabres fan saying buffalo is gonna be close with Bryam Quinn and ruff for a full year now plus they got so many prospects

  17. Devils offseason needs two G’s- goalie, and grit. Go for whatever Bruins goalie they don’t go with, and get one- maybe two- grit players with skill. So not another MacDermid.

Lots of doubt towards Fitzgerald in the comments here and other videos but I don’t agree with the negativity. When the worst case scenario last year was still 20 points higher than a similar scenario two seasons before that, you are on the right track.

  18. I like and agree with the insight given by Shannon on most of these teams. My only suggestion for a video like this in the future would be a final verdict that summarizes each team's direction after the overall opinion is shared.

Are they trending upward, downward or middling?

  19. 2011 cup for Boston and back to the finals twice more since. How can you say that we haven't had playoffs success? Most teams would kill for our playoff success… The Canucks for example!

  20. I think the Jets have, for too long, played in a manner that required Hellebuyck to stand on his head way too often.
The jets big problem is playing to their ability consistently. They routinely have slumps during the regular season, and
they have been stymied in the playoffs year after year.
It's especially frustrating for fans since it often seems to be a lack of motivation and desire more than lack of ability

  21. I think the thing that really sets this Rangers team apart is their ability to dig deep and find ways to win.
Sure, a lot of that depends on Shesterkin keeping them in the game when they are being outplayed; but,
by the end of the game they most often manage to notch one in the win column.
They often seem to win games through sheer determination.

  22. Sullivan needs to go in Pittsburgh, the fact that since the 2017 cup they havn't done anything. You said it only one series win since the cup and missed the last 2 years, and just wasted a great year by Sid!

  23. We're only going into year 2 under Treliving, and their cap problems only end AFTER this upcoming season. The one who's job should be in jeopardy, is Brendan Shanahan. Treliving needs at least 3-4 years of work, to see his impact.

  24. You should be on the NHL Network. I don't always agree or like what you say 🙂, but damn do you know hockey- at least as well, if not better than the so-called experts and pundits on TV. Bravo, sir.

Merci beaucoup de partager vos vastes connaissances d'hockey !

  25. I don't understand. If they're in Utah, why are they playing jazz when they are probably Mormons. By contrast, I hardly believe the people in New Orleans are Saints. It should be the New Orleans Jazz and the Utah Saints. I don't care if they're different sports; fix that!

  26. Will NHL Players have to do Jail Time if they get into a Fight while playing in Utah?!?😂😂😂

  27. Most GMs took over from someone else. Holland and Brisebois were handed great teams on a silver platter. It's the GMs that built the team from the ground up and won that should be considered the best

  28. The whole business with the jazz logo for Utah is hilarious. They’re only called the jazz because originally they were in New Orleans. Once they moved to Utah, they really should’ve changed their name.

  29. And this kids is how the hockey guy became the basketball guy

Jokes aside it would be nice to see something as to what Utah gonna go with as logo and name

  30. I’d like this hard salary cap to follow a cost of living sliding ruler for each location. Income & property tax, housing market etc.. Example: Vancouver would get 3mill more than Dallas @TheHockeyGuy
