Liked video before I watched it lol. Keep up all the great commentary👍
You are ignorant, 2012 1.st rounder was Tanner Pearson. And again, in 2008 Matt Greene and Jarred Stoll for Višnovsky!
The LA first rounders
Who is Matthew Daley, and why is he answering all the comments?
Been waiting for this one 🦁
Who… was… the… General…. Manager???!!!
By watching this video…LA gave me a 1st round pick 😛
You were getting made putting this video together? How do you thing is Kings fans feel. Ha ha. It’s been mostly heartbreak for the 42 years I have been a fan. Is so bad all I can do is laugh.
It is a very small thing, but his name is actually Mattias Norström. Not Nordström. 😀
*5 1920s Expansion teams plus Montreal
You have so much patience for writting all these things.
Ken Houston would have been a NASCAR driver now? NASCAR had Andy Houston and Marty Houston in the 90s-00s… so…
Man as a Kings fan I’m glad I wasn’t alive during the 80’s with those trades this team did 🤦🏾♂️
I been a kings fan in Canada since 88
I’m now 39
I must say this is a great video
As a kings fan I know how lucky we were to get those 2 cups and 11 playoff round wins in 3 years
Great video and keep up the great work
Is there an order to this list?
best one so far, this one was hilario
As a Kings fan since the mid 70s as a wee lad, imagine the frustration we had with those trades. I think the worst was "King Kong" Korab, who skated like he had cement skates–yeah who needs Phil Housley…. You forgot about the Rick Martin trade for Tom Barrasso pick….Martin played 4 games for Kings…
My head hurts from facepalming from 1967 to the 2000's for all the guys that could have started as an LA King….
Hockey grew on me I think early 90's when the Great One was sold by Peter Pocklington to Bruce Mcnall to elevate the sport even more. Even the Great One couldn't deliver Lord Stanley despite of being surrounded by All Stars like Luc, Paul Coffey, Mike Krushnelski, Jarri Kurri and pretty much ex-Oilers at some point in the 90's. Kings Brass were impatient and always in a win mode now when 99 was with them and essentially gave a lot of high draft picks that turned out to be good and above average NHLers (Martin Gelinas to name a few). The 90's Kings were always in cusp and would eventually fall to the eventual SC Champs ie Red Wings and Avs when LAPD (Jason Allison, Zigmund Palffy and Adam Deadmarsh) even Bryan Smolinski and Glenn Murray. Kings were always below top tier teams. But the lowest for me is when Pavel Rosa, Robert Lang, Vladimir Tsyplakov and Dmitri Khristich played; some turned out to be good when they played somewhere, but from Top to bottom, the Kings suck and those were dark ages in 90's.
Side History : Even Tommy Glavine (Braves Ace Pitcher) was drafted by the Kings, but decided to play baseball. 😭
It's hard being a King's fan. I've been one since before Gretzky, I was peeved when they traded my favorite player Bernie Nichols away(pumpernichol!) but I agree it was prob, a good trade for the Kings.
The most underrated trade in kings history, Lubomir Visnovski for Jarret Stoll and Matt Green both had a big impact in both their cup runs
los angeles is a horrible franchise
IF?? The famous if. If we could assume they would have been smart enough to take Ray Bourque or Eddie Olcyzk. You still have to pick ‘em. To be fair, Bourque went 8th. So a few teams whiffed on that one.
I remember the Larry Robinson coaching days. He signed a sweater of mine when I was a kid along with Barry Melrose.
well being in L.A always have tried to win now even under DL but it worked out okay i think during that time lol. no 1st rounders getting traded anytime soon
The Kings made all those weird trades in the 70's and 80's because Jack Kent Cooke was insane.
Omg. I'm raging at this board, too, Shannon! However, Kings Fans. Watch this video and have some faith in Rob Blake.
These old draft picks even have older names it's weird to hear them all lol
Your cat is looking to floor like "someone please help my human he's talking to himself again" 😂
wait, if they had better asset management, they could have had Bourque, Housley, Murphy and Blake at the same time? that could have been an insane blue line.
Now you know how us fans felt every year. I like to think this is where Homer Simpson acquired the 'DOH' saying with a big smack of hand to forehead. I'd also like to go on record claiming it should be considered one of the great conspiracies. Also you forgot to mention how many of those great first rounders The Kings reaquired way after their haydays like Ron Duguay, Ed Olczyk, Jimmy Carson, etc like it made up for it. And it's scary how many netminders we've traded that have become #1 netminders for other teams but Quick was mainstay so wash.
As a kings fan that trades list is just simply horifying. WHAT THE HELL!?

“I’m confused as to why some of these trades were made.”
We all were, brother. We all were.
Yikes, yeah not a super great past especially with the trades. Seems like Blake is (FINALLY) embracing the rebuild though and focusing on acquiring picks/prospects and building a future core from the draft. Hope they tank the next year or two and continue to add to their already pretty impressive prospect pool. Excited to see how things shake up in 3-5 years with hopefully an exciting, fast, young core coming into the scene while still having Kopitar/Doughty to lead the team and mentor the young guys. In my opinion it actually could work out really well still having those two guys around. Granted, maybe they'll be a bit overpaid given their production, but Kopitar can have such a HUGE impact on a guy like Alex Turcotte. Doughty can also have a big impact on young defensemen coming into the league. Plus I think both of those guys are the types of players that could actually put up some really solid numbers even in their later years if they're surrounded by young, fast, skilled forwards/d-men. Might be wishful thinking, but hope it works out! If not they might be in a tight spot until Kopitar's contract is up and/or might be forced to trade Doughty which would suck, but should at least bring back a solid return.
The Crown Royal whiskey jersey.
Please do a video either on this channel or on TEG about Tom Glavine's hockey career. You could do the same about noted MLB player Nyjer Morgan, who played for the WHL's Regina Pats in the late 90s. Morgan was also the first full black American to play in the WHL IIRC.
A little late to this video but with all a big portion of the video being about trading first round picks I think the fate of the Kings 2015 first round pick would've been worth mentioning too. It was traded to Boston on the day of the draft along with Martin Jones and Colin Miller to acquire one year of Milan Lucic. Boston would take Zboril with the pick so they didn't miss out on a superstar, however still available in the incredibly stacked first round was DeBrusk, Connor, Barzal, Chabot, and Boeser just to name a few. I think that trade matches the theme of the video as they gave up future prospects to get better in the short term which massively hurt the team.
Your new camera makes such a difference! Really shows the difference with that Kings Jersey.
Keeping in mind that the picks that were traded away, if they kept the pick there's nothing saying that they would have selected the same player as the team that they traded the pick to.
This team is weird.they have a bad record and are rebuilding but have one of the best goalie,d, center trios in the league.same with the Hawks roster.if you're losing, just say you're a young retooling team trying to get better everyday
You are the best
You have to mention trades over and over again because a good trade impacting one franchise is also notable for the other on how bad it was.

You left out the Kings version of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, Feb. 14, 1995, the Kings trade Alex Zhitnik and Charlie Huddy to Buffalo for Grant Fuhr and Phillipe Boucher. Basically, the trade that sunk Barry Melrose. Fuhr was a total disaster going 1-7-3 while Zhitnik would be a solid blue liner for the Sabres for 10 years and was part of their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1999.
