I would prefer a bigger body with Bertuzzi’s cap hit.

off the hop ill say I have been on the "Trade Marner" train for a few years, he shy's away too much in playoffs. I also believe leaf lose any trade involving Marner. That being said the cap space is the most valuable asset for the leafs in a Marner trade and allows the leaf to go in a different direction. My fear is the $$$ gets spent poorly ie Klingberg type of signing.

Bertuzzi is not signing for that, it will be $5.5m x 5 years min. In FA. Cowan might make the team, but not Minten. Holmberg has finally established himself and 100% should be on team full time next year. Not sure what you are watching.

this is not logical, in playoffs, repeat winners like Pits, Edm, Mntl, had three lines, one stars, a second stars or shut-down, and a third that the weaker opponent couldn't match, Kessel, Carboneau & Doug Jarvis, Linsmen then Nilsson, Tikanen. TOR's 3rd line had center Holmberg, 0.0 points. The defense was good at defending, but got 1 goal in 7 games, and no top-4 RHD. So obviously Bert's money goes to a middle-6 center, and Brodie's to a top 4 RHD. Bert took 7 years to play as a NHL regular, and since then always a 0.5 ppg, middle-six winger, at 6.0' not a power forward, not fast, not a nose for the net, not paid for play in his own end. (TOR has those on the left wing). TOR can sign Bert & Domi for a combined 7 million, 3 or 4 years, not more. Domi, Luby are good signings at the right price.
