It's absolutely absurd that Dan Bylsma wasn't canned for that Bruins series. I wonder if this comment has any bearing on the team's current state…..
Yeah nothing about Emil Bemstrom stood out to me. I'm not opposed to bringing him back as an AHL callup guy, but he shouldn't have a regular spot in the lineup. I agree, I was fine with the trade because it's not like Alex Nylander ever proved himself, but Bemstrom didn't really move the needle either. And I'll never forgive Bylsma for mangling Jarome Iginla lol. Iginla is one of my all time favorite players and Bylsma played him on his off wing for no reason.
I would say Bemstrom's grade is incomplete per the conditions of the trade, maybe the front office wanted to keep the higher pick, who knows? I say sign for a bare minimum for a year or two and go from there.
One more thing to change the league, shorten the preseason and extend the regular season to 84 games, 4 games per division teams, 3 per conference teams and 2 per other conference teams. Or just keep the 82 games but make games outside the division just 2 games and have more games against the division mean even more if they're not going to fix the playoff format. Also, START. THE. GAMES. ON. TIME. I'm tired of waiting at a 7pm scheduled game only for the puck drop to start 15 minutes or half an hour or later! Ceremonies, Commencements or Celebrations whathaveyou is fine but cmon, really Bettman?

I'd liked Bemstrom's energy, initially, especially on the powerplay, but he soon fell into the trap that so many others have and started deferring to Sid, Geno, and Letang on the powerplay, and not shooting the shots when you have them available.
My ideal rule change for broadcasting…allow the home networks to broadcast every single game, regardless of whether it's on a national broadcast, or not. I'd much rather watch the Pens games with Pittsburgh Sportsnet than anywhere else.
