  1. this is why he has zero trade value, this guy is a total cancer at this point with no term left lol..but? the Leafs have themselves to blame..its all about cash in Toronto

  2. Justin Bourne isn't a good source of anything. Maybe this is true, maybe it isn't, but I wouldn't take anything Bourne says at face value.

  3. I want to start this off by saying I've been a leafs fan since 78. I was a goalie when I was younger and I would have cherished the opportunity to be a practice goalie. Honor has been replaced by money and greed. If he wants to shop himself around at the end of next season , that won't go well for the Leafs. A player with this mindset will not put themselves in a position that could get them hurt. I'm not sure how that would work for any team.

  4. He doesn't want to be traded. Let him play out the year and save all that money for next year. And sign two or three decent players

  5. He will treliving the situation. He will walk for nothing like wheeler did. Once again trwlivong screwing his organization

  6. Marner is not screwing the Leafs. Leafs management screwed themselves by not making these moves when they could over the last three four years. I was shocked the Leafs didn't try to trade someone from the core back after they lost to Columbus in 2020. They could have traded Nylander then. Mitch Marner could have been traded. They couldn't trade Tavares. They could have traded Matthews. Next year they crumbled versus the habs in the playoffs. They could have traded Nylander , Marner and Matthews. Reilly had a partial NT at that point.
The year after they lost in the first round to the Lightning and could have traded Matthews. They could have traded Marner. They could have traded Nylander. Plenty of opportunity. The next year they could have traded Matthews or Nylander. Mitch Marner could have been traded.
They have had years to fix this. They haven't even acknowledged the team has problems, so of course they never tried to fix it.
Now Tavares, Marner, Nylander and Matthews all have NMC. Morgan Rielly has a no move contract.
    They can't do anything now.
This is all on team management.

Starting to turn on the star? People have been screaming about him for the last year.
    How is this shocking?
    Offer him 6.5$ million.

  7. All I am going to say is the new generation doesn’t care about winning and this is what the management owners have taught these guys is all about money money money money if you’re good enough, you don’t need to win a cup and this is what they’re teaching and look at it’s the owners fault for allowing these caps to go up so they make money to but Mitch Marner doesn’t care about the leafs doesn’t care about the fans. He cares about his wallet in his bank account. He’s not worth $14 million. He’s done nothing for freaking eight years. I just let him walk we’re going to say 14 million who cares? I would bench him and let him know that we will not tolerate this immature childish act. He’s been paid his money by the leafs. He gets huge sponsors. I just can’t believe he allows himself to perceive this way. He’s not a role model he’s only a model for him, so he doesn’t wanna have them not playing the playoffs. People say we need him as we need him as in done. Nothing for eight years. He might comeout and be the bomb

  8. Why should he say yes. It's not his fault he has a no trade why should he move. It the leafs fault. i wouldn't and yall have no one to blame but u

  9. he plays poorlY in the playoffs but so does Matthews, Nylander and Tavares are a bit better post season…but the reality is none of them excel in the playoffs doesn't really make sense to treat just one of them this way.

  10. If they can't trade Marner for a top defender… maybe put Marner on D paired up with the roughest bastard lol.

  11. He signed that contract in good faith bargaining. If the Leafs do anything else but honor the contact in good faith what are they telling the rest of the team who have NMC contracts. What does that say to free agents looking at coming here?? Why on earth would Marner help a team who is dumping him at the expenses of his new team. If he is smart he plays out his contract and then take the highest bid. He would probably give Toronto a home team discount.

  12. In the almost 100 year history of the Leafs we have had 2 players that were multiple 1st team all-stars. Horton (6 teams) was one can you guess the other?

  13. I hate the NHL and its fanbase's obsession with loyalty. Marner has a huge value and with the cap going up it would be insane to not go to FA unless the Leafs are willing to give him a contract which values him accordingly. Also screw the Dubas hate, he knew the NMC was coming and tried to get the power to make big changes and was fired for it. If you want blame put it on MLSE and Shanahan.

  14. They should be pushing now for a sign and trade and if he balks, wave him June 30 and apply his final year salary in free agency for this season. Not sure if that can be done; but cannot go into next year with this hanging.

  15. when they got this fab 4 or whatever the hell you wanna call them, marner was my favorite. slicker than grease. but now, after the playoff performances ? nah, not so much. don't give me this " well he had such and such points in this and that " shit, they we're mainly secondary assists. ask yourself if you'd want a tkachuk or marchand on your team instead of marner. hell, i'd take josh anderson over marner on a even trade hands down. i am sorry mitch, your a top 10 regular season player but when the going gets rough, you duck out. dude, you make 11 million a year ffs

  16. The key is to find a trade partner that’s ready to sign him to an extension immediately. Money talks and if the price is right he’ll take it.

  17. Like others said, if he doesn't move his clause cut his minutes to under 10. Us fans need to BOO him every time he steps on the ice. Have the chant going F*** U Marner!

  18. you guys get all these pond hockey leaf fans all rilled up with your comments Marner is screwing leafs .Mitch Marner was given a no move clause in his contract and is honouring his contract

  19. There is no happy ending in Toronto for Mitch…. hope he's smart enough to head for the exit on his own.

  20. How could a player with a contract be screwing anyone get a grip. Can a player break a contract if he doesn’t like it?No

  21. If he wants to maximize his value on the free agent market, he’d better have his best season yet. 100 points. No slacking. No whining. No glove throwing. Be a complete team player.
But here’s a question. Would you get more by trading him now, OR by letting him walk in free agency, then using the gained salary space to sign 2 solid free agents to meet the team’s most pressing needs?

  22. When Marner became a Leaf, management couldn’t wait to throw money at him. Now he’s the bad guy? He has done nothing wrong. Why would he want to help a team that wants to trade him? Wake up Leafs fans

  23. Awful management decisions by the Leafs got us where we are so you reap what you sow. Marner walking for nothing would be the definition of leafy.

  24. what is the moneyline on Mitch Kessel getting in a scrum during practice because he does not want to work on the changes in direction the club is going

  25. what is the moneyline on Mitch Kessel getting in a scrum during practice when he doesn't want to work on the changes in direction the team is making

  26. Marner is a legit superstar. He's going to be on team Canada in 2026. He's an NHL all-star. His stats on Toronto are franchise defining. The problem with his camp, and Nylanders and Matthews is it's not about winning, it's about money. Marner's agent doesn't care AT ALL about the teams success. Marner could easily sign a team friendly contract long term, but his camp wants to milk Marner for every last dollar. The Leafs are never going to win anything. They overpay all their stars. These players are great, but they absorb so much cap that the Leafs will never compete. People are on Marner. Nylanders contract is terrible. Marner is a spectacular player with an agent that wants too much money. They gave it to Nylander and Matthews. This team is going NOWHERE, and a Marner trade isn't going to fix that.

FYI I'm a lifelong Leafs fan, but I'm also a realist.

Marner is just today's target. When they fail to win for the next 7 years with a garbage Nylander contract, you'll all find a new scapegoat.

  27. Markers agent is playing a bluff, so at the beginning of next season send him to the Toronto Marlies and make him sweat it out and maybe then Marner will come back to reality and be more reasonable

  28. If you can’t move Marner and/or JT you don’t bother trying to up this team (Domi, Bert) next season, ride the Robertson, Steeves, Abruzesse etc. and if it ain’t working let JT/Marner face the media every game
