Ratings in the Canadian market will be pretty strong. Not just because of a Canadian team, mcdavid will draw a good audience. Bettman is far more concerned with the US market.
How would anyone who isn’t a high up employee of the NHL know this.
Do you guys remember when Florida would have like 10 people in the stands? The arena would legit be dead during some games and I remember tickets being like $10. It’s in Bettman’s interest to make sure those cities bring in more revenue by making sure they’re good and so fans have a reason to cheer for them and go to games. Who cares if Toronto doesn’t make the finals? Fans will pay $400 for a ticket no matter what. He knew Vegas had to be good right off the bat or else no would would give a shit about them
I am a diehard leafs fan. Always have been, always will be. And I’ll be watching.
