My biggest Penguins change would be FSG bringing back the seasoned good people in the front office that they made redundant and laid off 🙁
Fun episode guys! For a rule change, I'd revisit the challenge delay of game rule. I'm not exactly sure what they best balance is between unlimited challenges and a delay of game penalty for an unfavorable ruling vs. one challenge and losing your timeout, but it seems really silly, especially with the gray area on some of these reviews, to put a team on the PK just for getting a challenge wrong. The lost timeout made a lot of sense to me (but obviously, with unlimited challenges, that can't be the solution).
The delay of game penalty is intended to penalize players intentionally flinging the puck over the glass, while under pressure on defense. They need to focus more on that, and less on the accidental, got too high on the glass clearing the puck.
I'd also like to see them get rid of the stoppage of play when the puck goes into the netting and returns to the ice. Yeah, stop play if the puck goes into the crowd, or bench areas, but if it hits the netting and returns to the ice, play continues. This will also add to the offensive possibilities.
I'd like to see the Pens bring back the "baby blues" as a third jersey, but using the "robo-Penguin" logo, but with the gold from the 02-03 logo background, instead of the goldenrod color. Especially if you do the sleeve and waistline banding of the original jerseys.
I'd like to see 3 on 3 overtime in the stanley cup playoffs. These 2, 3, 4 overtime period games are just too long. 3 on 3 is not guaranteed to shorten it but with all the open ice it should
I think the delay of game penalty was implemented after teams flipped the puck out on purpose to get a line change unfortunately, a tired team will abuse it. Maybe limit it to skaters only as goalies lack the control players have.
I'd like to see best of five for the first & second rounds and conf. finals and best of 7 for the final. I think that would shorten things and we'd see more intense hockey in the early rounds.
Want to increase league revenue? Start up a wildcard game in East and West where #8 and #9 ranked teams play a game to decide who gets the final spot in the playoffs.
A Saturday playoff marathon would be a great reason to have a party and watch hockey all day. Its nearly impossible/improbable to have a “super Bowl” type party for the playoffs as is unless your in a game 7 cup final scenario
