1. Flyers don't draft small forwards .. Montreal has been drafting undersized players for the last 15 years..

  2. Montreal planned to draft cam York in this draft then philly took York and Montreal was very happy to have Caufeild in their lap. They wanted defence but could not pass it up

  3. To the question: who has the most talent? Caufield wins. But to the question: which player will be the most useful to their respective teams? Then things get blurry. A perfect pick is a mix of talent, grit, tenacity, longevity etc. Caufield could get hurt in his second year or loose confidence if his style doesn't translate well to NHL.. Caufield could also turn out to be the next Martin St-Louis, who knows.. I think either way both teams win.. it will be interesting to see. Habs have had their share of bad first round picks. They are due to get lucky. I have seen Caufield do mind bending moves that tell me we have a winner on our hands. He is a natural if I ever saw one. Hope everything plays out ok for both.

  4. Listen man, this is the Philadelphia Flyers we are talking about. While it's a different league know where little guys can succeed, broadstreet bullies is the backbone of what this franchise is about. They are not drafting some 5 foot nothing hockey player. I can't even imagine seeing that little guy in a Flyers jersey. They got a good pick. York is a legit top 4 dman. The Flyers have an extremely bright future. No need to question the pick anymore.

  5. I really wish us habs fans would stop talking about how much of a steal he was. At a certain point it kind of feels like we're just rubbing it in their face and the rest of the league is going to hate him the same way we hate Matthews.

  6. as a flyers fan the cam york pick makes sense. Carter hart is our golden goose, and like drafting great linemen to protect a QB , you wanna have good defensemen to make life easier for your goalie. hes developed well and even took strides in offensive game at michigan. With Myers , sanheim, and provy taking big steps last year, they can take their time with cam york and i can see him on the main roster next year.

  7. I think that Cole Caufield is really talented and he has a natural gift. He is really working on top of it. Habs made an choice in #15 slot. I would have selected Peyton Krebs instead. He is way more 200 feet natural player. He is the supreme forechecker and he initiates offensive plays with his transition game. Caufield and Krebs are elite and Newhook is a work in progress. Newhook is similar to Krebs and maybe a little bit more offensive, but Krebs is an absolute master at what he is doing. He has Jonathan Toews-like abilities. Even if Cole Caufield scores 35-to-40 goals seasons, I would favour a 60 to 70 points Krebs.

  8. As of what will follow, Habs still lack RHD and franchise elite players. Cam York isn't the best of them all. Bergevin, Timmins, Churla and cie have accumulated LHD since Markov and Emelin are gone. I am not even sure that three last or four drafts are what the doctor ordered. I will point to lack of elite players. Jesperi Kotkaniemi is valuable, but Quinn Hughes was the real deal… Romanov will be valuable but he isn't a puck-moving Dman. I am not seeing that in Struble and Guhle. Habs have to select elite LW projects since 2 or 3 years and RHD since 1 to 2 years. In 2019, they selected Caufield and a boatload of LHD and thet've not selected wingers and RHD. They have selected wingers in 2020, but they've not selected either of Niemela, Villeneuve, Powell and some RHD. I am not even sure that Mysak is a legitimate top 6 talent…

  9. Heck no, the Flyers made the worst choice possible. The left side of their D is the strongest part of their entire team. Provorov, Sanheim, Hagg, Gostisbehere, Zamula and now Gustafsson are already on the team. The thinnest position on their team is goal scoring and right wing. Followed by right handed defensemen. So Caufield was a NO BRAINER pick. But if management really didn't like Caufield, then Söderström was the correct pick. York is literally the last 3 of the bunch they should have taken. Also look at these rankings pre-draft.

The Flyers CLEARLY messed up this pick.

  10. When you look at the original trade when the Flyers could have drafted CC, they obtained a 1 and 2. The 1 is York and the 2 was traded to obtain Brink. That trade as Flyer fan I would be behind 100 out of 100 even today. Now the Flyers had a second chance to draft CC and that is where the hmmm begins. Can you draft 2 undersized f's in same draft for top 2 picks? You can but not ideal. Caufield has a higher ceiling but York has a higher floor. I think I would go CC but its not like getting a 12 year number 2/3 d-man is a bad consolation prize.

  11. Seeing how bad our PP has been due to lack of snipers on our team, I'd still have to say we made a mistake picking York over Caulfield but if we get Laine in a Trade for Ghost or Sanhiem then it might work out.

  12. As a Flyers fan Caufield is better in my opinion and will be a great forward for the Habs, but we need defense and if York can be a top 2 d man and play with Provorov then I’m 100% content with York.

  13. Forget midget Caufield. Flyers should have never traded back and should have instead taken Boldy.

  14. Pretty much all the Flyers’ great D prospects had graduated to the NHL, whereas they still had solid F prospects (Farabee, Frost, Ratcliffe, etc.) waiting. If they wanted to get a blue chip D and a goal-scoring F, York then Brink was the way to maximize that. Otherwise they would be looking at Caufield and their new top D prospect would have been… Antti Tuomisto? Kaedan Korczak? Raphael Lavoie? All good players, but not #1 D prospects and not Cam York

  15. In the 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs, he was an instrumental part of the team's run to the finals. Just a few days ago Caufield scored the OT winner against the Flyers. It's safe to say that the Flyers made a mistake.
