    > Potential option A trades:

    >Necas to the Montreal Canadiens for the Canadiens 2024 5th overall pick and the rights to RFA Arber Xhekaj

    >Necas and the Canes 2024 3rd round pick to the New Jersey Devils for the Devils 2024 10th overall pick and the rights to RFA Dawson Mercer

    >Potential option B trades:

    >Necas (and maybe Kotkaniemi) to the Vancouver Canucks for RFA Filip Hronek and the Vancouver Canucks 2024 3rd round pick

    >Necas to the Boston Bruins for Linus Ullmark and the Bruins 2024 4th round pick

    >Necas to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Patrik Laine ($1.7m retained)

They aren’t looking for draft picks and Arber Xekaj isn’t enough of a return.

Dawson Mercer alone with 10OA could be worth it, but doesn’t really move our needle. Mercer isn’t a star and the 10th OA needs years to season.

    LMAO at Necas for Laine.

LMAO at a 1-for-1 for Ullmark

LMAO at Necas AND KK for just Hronek when they were talking Necas for EP40, and Hronek is a far step down from that type of package and is also expensive as an RFA.

Yeah if these are the offers and what we can theoretically expect just keep him

I’m still a huge Necas fan but I’m definitely a believer if someone has made it clear they don’t want to be here it’s time to move on.

The Ullmark and Hronek trades I’m not a fan of personally.

Moving a guy like Necas can greatly impact the future of an org for better or for worse, I think trying to grab a guy similar in age and caliber, or trade like the Canadiens one makes a lot of sense if you can get more then what is listed in the article for a return as it extends your “cup window” by not making your team older. Moving him for a 30 year old goalie on his last leg puts you fully all in and puts your future in an awkward spot should it not result in a cup.

A 5th is interesting but I don’t see the team particularly going for it unless they think they can get someone NHl ready. Lemieux is already extended so Xhekaj doesn’t fulfill a need here.

10th starts getting into guessing territory and Dawson needs more time to develop so wouldn’t have an immediate impact on the team. And not sure he has a ceiling like Necas

Hronek is just going to want 7 million and would probably be relegated to the 3rd pair because Brind’amour isn’t moving Burns and Orlov has a pretty good shot at 2nd pair.

If they could get Ullmark + the rights to DeBrusk then that could work.

Laine is too much of a risk for any team to give up a lot of value for. He’s needed a fresh start on two different teams and is very injury prone. When he’s on he’s great but has not shown he can be a dependable top 6 player.

If it’s to the point where Necas is all but demanding to go, which it’s kind of sounding like it is then I think the team ought to really look into Ehlers. Still injury prone but as far as getting back a similar player that’s as close as any I’ve seen.

Unless coach allows him to start at 2C, we should look to trade him out west, not within the division.

I’ve also seen Ehlers floated, which I don’t hate. You can make a solid argument Ehlers has been underutilized/ mis-utilized and he’s worth more than his stats.

I also don’t understand the hate for Ullmark in these comments, dude just won a vezina a year ago.

Going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. We haven’t had many glimpses yet into the future of this org.

If there’s a world where we can keep him. We absolutely should. Like others have said before on this subreddit, his play style may be better served in another system.

We’ve got a real niche thing going on with how Rod wants to approach the game. It feels more and more like the Oakland Athletics of hockey. All those years the A’s had great teams and made the playoffs, but they have no ship to show for it.

Theo got it right in Boston and then again with the Cubs that you have to have a stat head mindset, but you also need to pair that with superstars. You can’t just have grinders on the team and we have mostly grinders here which has given us great success.

It will not win championships though. So, finding guys who can perform in the system AND come in clutch when needed is the elusive mix for every team. Finding someone who fits OUR niche though isn’t as easy as some of the other approaches.

Guys love Rod and that helps them persevere, but I wouldn’t blame any player for looking at what’s expected here in Raleigh and saying that’s just not for them.

I’m sure the team is evaluating every possibility and even throwing in pieces we’ve not discussed to see what they can build. Gonna be a crazy offseason, but that RFA clock is ticking!!!
