Tavares marque GWG en 2OT, les Isles remportent la série
Thomas Greiss a réalisé 41 arrêts et John Tavares a égalisé en fin de troisième avant de marquer le but vainqueur en double prolongation, remportant ainsi la série.
Despite everything that has happened, Tavares will forever be remembered on Long Island for this goal. It may not mean much now, but it meant everything when it happened.
2:13–2:32 was the worst thing I ever noticed in the nhl. Ref flat out didn’t care about the trip to appease the home fans as well as make the ending more exciting. Screw the Isles still.
Still can’t believe he left. He was the heart and soul of these Islanders teams and if we had him vs Tampa we could of gone all the way. Sad he followed his childhood dreams and went to the eternal underachiever in the Maple Leafs.
Florida should have won that game. In the final minute. You can see a trip by Matt Martin At the empty net and by John Tavares himself at the end as of Florida should have won this series.
Rewatching this series bc I’m sad we suck again and we missed out on johnny hockey last night. Luongo was incredible in this series and I miss the old panthers logo/uni’s.
Also how did jt go from this, A whole fan base chanting his name and a top 15 player in the league, to now 6 years later he’s the 4th best player on his own team and is hated by the people that loved him most. I don’t boo him anymore but if he just left with some class instead of lying or requesting to not be traded, we would’ve honored him an prob retired his number. He gave us so many good moments, I remember my whole family throwing a party when they called his name on draft night, his first goal, all the playoff series’ he put his full effort into and came up short, his race against benn for the art Ross. But now when I think ab them I shake my head in disappointment.
The 4th line bailey lee and Nelson r all that’s left from his teams here. Owners, 2 different arenas, coaches, gm isn’t who or what it was in 2018 when he left. We’ve been far more successful and a more respectable franchise without him but I’m still fond of the simple days where I would hope to see 4-7 extra games after the regular season and I was proud of getting a 7 or 8 seed. Missing the playoffs this year was the hardest bc it was the first time I’ve ever held a standard and had expectations for this team. How did we finish 8 games out of the playoffs when we were expected to be back in the ecf again.

This moment could have been so much cooler if it weren't at Barclays
What a win for the islanders first win in the series since 1993

Definitely remember this one — listened to the game on the radio. Milestone win for the Islanders franchise. BTW love the background music
LGI… big '23 run coming
Just watched this after the leafs clinched a series in 2023 crazy parà’eld
Tavares ending series win drought one team at a time
history repeats itself
Exactly 7 years later, Tavares has just scored in OT for the Leafs to eliminate the Lightning.
Who’s here after Tavares helped the leafs end their drought (with Cuthbert also on the call)
Tavares did it twice once for the leafs and once for the iles
I love. This win taverns is a. Trader
He’d probably be a Stanley cup champion if he never left the islanders
