I miss this guy every day. Absolute class act. Sad that the cup isn’t coming home to Canada, but glad PoMo finally won one.

  2. Cupboards

PoMo is a class act, he knew his time was up in Winnipeg, but still loves the team and city! Happy for him!!!

  3. STFUandRTFM

Shows that the reason Jets didnt make it to the cup was not due to a coach. The team just isnt there .

  4. half-mage

This has shades of Bobby Heanan’s « I wish Monsoon was here »

  5. SoothSaier

This was fucking AWESOME of him to say. I’d die for PoMo

  6. BrettLam

Wow. He will be forever respected in Winnipeg for that comment.

  7. ottereckhart

I was rooting for the panthers all the way after the jets defeat much to the chagrin of my Canadian friends.

    Stoked for Paul.

  8. Wihtikow1

The way I teared up after this. Our guys WILL get it. Go Jets Go ✈️💙

  9. velocity2ds

I was rooting for the panthers for POMO to get his cup!

He’s a good man and he served Winnipeg well then he left with some dignity when an impasse was up

  10. Intelligent-Tough980

Amazing for Winnipeg to enter his thoughts at a moment like that. So happy for him, he’s a great coach and good man with the best pressers of this era.

  11. americancheese1

I love him, and honestly, I’m incredibly happy for him

  12. Hero_of_Brandon

    I’m beside myself.

To be in a position where you just achieved a lifelong goal, and to be thinking not only of his family, but of the Winnipeg Jets.

    A hero among men.

  13. LeCyador

That was nice, but the part that got me was his call out to his dad. Telling him that his name was going to be on there beside his heroes. Gets you choked up a bit. What a great lad PoMo is.

  14. Bedardov

He’ll end up back before his coaching career is over. Hands down! That was nice of him to mention!

    So happy for this man.

  16. shootingblankz

Didn’t have getting choked up by pomo on tonight’s bingo card but here we are. So much respect from this man. Hope this fucking fires up the boys for next season. Let’s go!

  17. kabalguy1

« I’ve done everything I can for this team. »

Nothing more needs to be said.

  18. altred133

It’s unreal he said this, like for him to be thinking of Winnipeg in this moment. Love you Paul, huge congrats

  19. JamieRoth5150

Very happy for Paul. Class act. He deserves this one. 👍👍😁

I know in Winnipeg it doesn’t make sense, but I am an Oilers fan. I was 12 in 2003 and me and a buddy just randomly chose Edmonton as our team, not knowing anything of the history between Edmonton and Winnipeg from back in the days before we were even born haha. And for whatever reason I stuck by them.

I love watching McDavid play. He’s easily one of my favourite active players. I wanted to see this team win so badly, and see McDavid win a cup. But if there’s one silver lining I can take from tonight it’s 1000% seeing Paul Maurice win the Stanley Cup. He just beyond deserves it. He’s a class act through and through and I loved his commitment to this city. Shame it took him going elsewhere but he’s definitely earned this one.

  21. Civil_Defense

Bro, I think the green light on your projector is out.

  22. Elwood426

What an awesome thing to say. Happy for him

  23. A_Dehydrated_Walrus

He had his ups and downs in Winnipeg, but tell me that comment didn’t just hit you right in the feels. Good for Paul. Anybody that gracious and humble in a moment of victory probably deserves it.

  24. WlNNIPEGJETS

I’ll believe it if he ever actually decides to go fishing.

  25. Low_Warning13

Hope the players are watching…. Cough sheif and wheeler

  26. rookie-mistake

that was so sweet. I was rooting for him to get a cup, and it was honestly super touching to know that he’s still got that much love for us too ♥️

  27. passive_fist

This was so amazing to see. Never would have expected a mention let alone that kind of honour of a final line. Love this man.

  28. TheLastRulerofMerv

Wild thing for a coach of a winning cup team to say eh? That’s really saying something right there. His very first interview after winning he says he wants another team to win it next lol.

Jets are my second favorite team so I’m all for it. Maybe if my Flames can rebuild in the next decade we can give you a run for your money.

  29. est1-9-8-4

I saw him one time jogging/walking the Harte trail…or should I say the “heart” trail cuz I love this guy! So classy good for you Paul! Sorry it didn’t work out I hope your words inspire/motivate/encourage the jets to soar to the same heights of their former coach.

  30. These guys are different. It’s the way they treat each other, they love each other,”
    Paul Maurice

The difference can be found in the relationships you take the time to build with your teammates.

  31. kingofspoonerisms

Nice of him to say. But why would he wish another Team win the cup next year? He is still the coach of FLA next year.

  32. I hope this shuts up all the PoMo h8ers… sure… give your criticism, but dont tell me he didnt put his heart and soul into it.

  33. roccerfeller

What a beauty. Not too Many coaches would shout out their former team
