This is huge for the Marlies. I’d imagine Hildeby and Akhtyamov will split starts next season with both of them getting a few NHL starts depending on who looks better.

All these goalie prospects hopefully means the end of us getting all worked up over having a 3rd string goalie. It really simplifies things when you can freely send a guy down to the ahl without passing through waivers

    22-23, 39GP in the VHL with a 1.74 GAA and a .943 s%.

    23-24, was split between the KHL/VHL. 17GP in the KHL with a 2.51 GAA and a .921 S%

    19GP in the VHL with a 2.00 GAA and a .927s%

Those are some good numbers for a 22yo goalie playing on not awful but not great Russian league teams.

If only they had a team… kind of like the growlers to have room to play all these goalies

All things considered, the Leafs have actually been doing a pretty good job with their goalie prospects and development these last couple years.

Would it nice to have someone a bit more proven to be ready by now? Of course. Woll is CLOSE, but his injuries really kneecapped his chance to prove himself last season. But it’s looking like the Leafs have a decent string of prospects ready to go pretty soon.

If only they had done this well with their defense prospects.

  6. Whatever happened to Petruzzelli (sp?)? Is he still considered a prospect?

I would suggest that Akhtyamov starts in the ECHL for awhile. Get him accustomed to North American rinks. He needs to play and he’ll do that in the ECHL. Rumors are suggesting Leafs are setting their team up in Florida.
