Yeah, not great. I figured we’d make a sacrifice to keep him considering the huge discount he took for us. I’m not expecting anything crazy, but I’m okay with doing a little extra to keep him. If he leaves, his loss of leadership will have a profound impact on the team. I’ll be severely disappointed if he leaves. Gutted that his last game will be a loss to the cats.

Again why even offer Sergachev that much. Sign the contract. Ignore stamkos just to give Sergachev and his contract you agreed to the boot, free up that cap…. and still not sign stamkos… :/ I’m lost here. Can someone explain this to me as if I was a 5 year old.

I don’t like the optics at all on top of being a massive stamkos fan.

I’m very skeptical of the message it sends to other locker room leaders, the culture, and even other guys when negotiating contracts in the future. Stamkos did pretty good by the team on his last contract. If it’s in fact true he’s getting low balled, that really could change how players sign and re-sign here in the future.

Bro, I’m so upset. They really said fuck off to the Captain? Everyone else got extensions a year early but not stamkos. I’m pissed on his behalf
