Marner was literally the last one to sign, Nylander held out half the season within minutes of the Dec 1 deadline over a couple hundred grand off daddies advice an entire year before Marner signed before training camp.

Point, Tkachuk and Rantanen all won cups after signing their RFA deals. The Leafs stars have won 1 game outside of the 1st round. And it was entirely predictable. It’s about culture. The Leafs culture is money first, winning second. And it starts with Matthews.
When Nylander held out till December 1st then was an ineffective 3rd liner the rest of that season and scored an own goal in the Boston series, the season before Marner’s contract.
I wish our guys sucked early in their rookie years, so we can sign them for cheap and missed the playoffs so we can get high pick. Then they can break out so we can sign more guys. I’m being sarcastic..
Marner has always been the problem on and off the ice
Unironically jeff o’niell wouldve likely done a just as good or a better job than dubas and likely treliving.
To get the roster dubas inherited (few bad contracts aside) and making it out of the first round once was about the worst you could possibly do.
