  1. the oilers don't want to run a 20 or a 21 man roster but they might have to. I like Mcleod but they may have to trade him for cap purposes, then they send down Joshua Brown and Derek Ryan. that clears up 4 million in cap space. that give room for 750 k contracts for Broberg and Holloway each. I doubt they want league minimum so they might even need to send down Stecher. The oilers wont like having a 20 man roster but this would make the cap work. Trading Kane is completely out of the question. and trading Ceci would mean they would have to find a replacement for him which would probably be about 1.25 – 2 million giving them less cap then a Mcleod trade.

  2. Trade or buy out mcleod. Replace him with savoie, lavoie, pederson, or bourgault. Much better value, they can't possibly play worse than mcleod, and youll see what you have in your prospects playing with perry. At limited minutes.

  3. We can be up to 10 per cent over the cap in the off season…we aren’t anywhere near 10 per cent!…even if we sign both Holloway and broberg we will still not be anywhere near that 10 per cent

  4. We beat LA in Round 1 for the 3rd straight year, we came back to upset the Canucks in 7 (them losing Boeser for Game 7 helped us a little), we beat Dallas in a playoff series for the first time since 1997 (Stars won the 5 series between then and this past year, and 6 of 9 between the two franchises which include the two series between the Oilers and the old North Stars). And we became the 10th team in history to at least force a Game 7 after falling behind 3-0, ultimately coming one win short of raising the Cup, but still a successful year considering how the first few games in the regular season went.

  5. Keep Kane as long as he is willing to get surgery. That way he can go on LTIR and get healthy and come back for playoffs where he will be needed. A healthy Kane can be huge in playoffs also injuries happen during season have a player with Kane's scoring ability to replace any scoring lost from injuries

  6. How in the Tom Dick and Harry would you ever get anything for an injured player. We get LTIR and we get cap relief like others before us and he’s back for the playoffs. By the way we need to take advantage of this before it’s removed! Not sure if McLeod makes it you can only circle the net so many times, it’s a new management team and a cup to win!

  7. Here is some interesting random idea for the next Edmonton Oilers trade.
Darnell Nurse and Evander Kane to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Boone Jenner and Erik Gudbranson.
    D.Nurse and E.Kane contracts/cap hit combined is $14 375 000 VS B.Jenner & E.Gudbranson – $7.75 million combined, which can be an absolute steal of a deal!
In E.Gudbranson you get an experienced big physical defenseman (and who can fight if needed) and much cheaper version than D.Nurse while in B.Jenner you get an additional first/second line center with plenty of skill and grit.
There is your Stanley Cup Champion team for 2024-2025.

  8. How about trading nurse? Last year got booted for instigated last minute this year worst plus minus.

  9. Let Kane go on LTiR and get healthy like the Vegas Knights do with Mark Stone.

  10. Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle are getting married on July 27, 2024. I don't think he is going on a few outings with Leon. Just a thought.

  11. You're quoting Birons moronic best canadian team comment???They are the best team in palate in the whole NHL, prove me wrong

  12. Skinner needs to be with mcdavid his speed and finish are elite along with the fact RNH fits well with drai

  13. Kane will do what's best and he doesn't want to leave Edmonton now he will stay get healthy and even a hurt kane played pretty tough he is one of only guys they have that protects his team and drops gloves Perry is just to slow kane healthy is twice the player Perry is I was surprised they signed him to that much so quick they need kane and the city of Edmonton needs him and he needs them

  14. He deserves it and if you look back on his career when he looked so young coming in he was a cockey tough player he has matured into a great with the oilers he has so many hat tricks along with a G Howe hat trick he was great in round one against LA kings he got brown his first goal predicting it before game on pregame interview and how many times you heard Driasiatle say that goal was all Kane causing havic in around net with hits and tips he actually has a all around complete game all sports channels said just before playoffs oilers need a healthy Kane to win Stanley cup

  15. Are you actually implying that using Perry, a 39 yo with a 1.15 cap hit, on the 4th line is a questionable decision? It's not 2010. That's a dirt cheap contract my guy and can be fully buried in the minors if need be (though I would have rather not signed him, personally).

  16. I also feel that Vancouver is the better team. Goal tending has to improve. All the other moves were awesome, can't believe that Henrique signed, that was great for 3rd line. I only hope Skinner can get better.

  17. Kane was a critical player in our win over Vancouver this year. He can be a game changer through his physicality and his goal scoring. Id love to see him still around

  18. McLoud is out. Going to Buffalo. That frees up cap space for Dylan & Phillip. Problem with Kane is there isn’t a spot for him now that we discovered a magical 3rd line. We can keep Kane as an insurance policy if a top 9 player gets injured but I just don’t see him accepting the role as injury insurance. He’s 32 & doesn’t have a place on this team that guarantees him any real playing time. That’s the problem.

  19. Ryan McLeod traded to Buffalo. So that helps meeting the cap. With the signing of Skinner and Arvidson there was no room for him

  20. It's funny how this tweet is already outdated with the trade of McLeod.
