Was Yakupov left off because he’d be the consensus pick for last place?

Sorry, I’m a Canes fan. I wouldn’t know anything about first overall draft picks.

McDavid, Sid, mackinnon(to me these are the top three and are open to debate), ovie, bedard(feels weird putting someone who is just as likely to have a career plagued by injury as HOF worthy here, but assuming he takes the same trajectory as the other generational talents) patrick Kane, stamkos, matthews, hughes, fleury, nugent-hopkins, ekblad, tavares, Hischier, Dahlin, Power, Slafkovsky, lafrenierre, hall, johnson(apologies to erik Johnson, ive never heard of him so by default he is last)

Damn. Having the first pick really does come with franchise altering potential other sports can’t match. Some absolute legends here.

Too early to tell. Some of these boys are just starting their careers.
I think of it more like tiers, you can argue placement within the tiers but I think it looks something like this.
S tier- Crosby, Ovi, McDavid
A tier- Mackinnon, Matthews, Stamkos, Kane, Fleury
B tier- Dahlin, Hughes, Tavares
C tier- RNH, Hall, Ekblad, Hischier
D tier- Johnson, Lafreniere
F tier- Yakupov even though he ain’t on the list
It’s too early to say anything about Bedard, Slaf, and Power. I fully expect Bedard to be S tier, but I can’t put him there yet. Slaf and Power could be A or B tier eventually but still too early. I also think Laf can jump up a lot if he continues to grow like he did the past season. Also, no disrespect to Erik Johnson, he’s had a great NHL career but just didn’t live up to that #1 billing.
