Oliver Kylington vaut-il le coup ?

A montré un potentiel de top 4 lorsqu’il était en bonne santé. Excelle dans les récupérations et les sorties de zone. Pourrait probablement être choisi en 2×2 ou 3×1,85

He wouldn’t be a bad pickup for the right team. I don’t think we really have the slot for him though. As it is we only have 3 defenders over 6’ anyway. Zone exits were a weak spot, but we can’t run too many undersized defensemen either.

1000% he would be a massive upgrade over the Lindgren we got last year. We desperately need someone like him to aid our transition game through exits and retrievals. Would be a shrewd signing

I think the reason he’s still available is because he wants a long-term deal, so we’d have to offer more than a couple years. He barely played the last two season with an ongoing mental health issue, but came back at the end of last season and seemed to be okay. Still, teams are justifiably hesitant to give him term.

I don’t care about size I just want good hockey players on the team. He’s great at two things we are poor in, retrievals and exits and would be a massive upgrade over someone like lindgren. Obviously still a gamble but he’s shown some real upside in the past and running it back with lindgren and trouba seems like a recipe for disaster. He’s obviously not the saviour of our dcore but would hopefully be a big upgrade over lindgren.

If he’s banking on a long term deal then obviously it wouldn’t work, but if he wants something like you said I think we absolutely take the risk (although we should’ve signed gus to a 2×2). It would be an upgrade over lindgren while giving him less term and money that lindgren would project to make.

Wonder if he and Schneider could find some success together, Kylington is good at retrievals and exits where Schneider needs work in that area, but Schneider is pretty good on zone entry denials which is where kylington is poor at. Would allow us to play miller and fox which would be arguably the best d pairing in the league as well.

Hes said his mental health is past trauma
…which they dont have any medication for
Like they have for depression, anxiety, etc

So, say you spend 2-3 million per year on him,
And his issues resurface the morning of a game 7
Thats 3M toward a player that could be playing
…i cant see any team adding him to their roster unless they already have their top 6 D signed, and still have money leftover to sign him, to earn a spot over those 6
And treat his spot in their lineup as a bonus

But u absolutely cannot pencil him in as 1 of your 6, in case his issues arise in the playoffs. You need to have your 6 D signed rather than sign him to be part of your 6 D. Obviously hes a top 6 D in the NHL, possibly top 4.
But u need to be able to fill in his spot, with someone of top 6 caliber, and not have to use an AHL replacement.

I’m shocked no one has signed him. I know he had personal issues and the flames were classy so we don’t know exactly what they were but he hasn’t been the same since he dealt with them. I think he could bounce back though
