Sign Draisatl for about 3 years. His performance level could drop off some. We don't want another long term Nurse type deal.
I think the only way Drai signs for 8 years is if he gets 15mil per so the shorter term is more likely, also wouldn't be surprised if Draisaitl signs for like 5 years and Mcdavid signs a 4 extension so their contracts end together and then they can decide together what to do stay in edmonton or leave in the future

i have never liked the idea of having either joshua brown or troy stecher as a defenseman on the 3rd pairing. If the oilers do go that route I would rather have stecher as the 3rd pairing defenseman but that would defiantly need upgrading

All I'm saying is, if Leon gets married in a quick civil ceremony right away (and has the big wedding later) then perhaps he can get Canadian citizenship in time for the 4 nations cup next Feb.

Mathew is 27 when his 5 years deal started. Draislte will be 30 at the start of next season. I highly doubt Draistle is looking to have Mathews's contract.
