Its all up to the young kids. I think theyre a dark horse for the last playoff spot if multiple of their young players take some steps towards their true potential.
As someone who has watched you from the beginning your former hate for the ducks was unwarranted. Why did you hate them? Because the name? The cartoon image? Well sir the Seattle kraken and Utah Yetti have entered the chat. Maybe because of the tough players we used to have? Well you are a Boston fan and a few players by the name oh Marchand and lucic were around but you had no such issue with them. 😂😂 cmon Shannon. Maybe its just because the ducks used to kick the ever living shit out of the cannucks? So much you ever hated the loved jean sabastian giguere… man oh man 😊
Nope.
As a longtime Ducks fan, I’m super excited to see what we can do this next season. Last season started super exciting but ultimately, with the injuries we suffered, it was pretty much a wash by January. We will only really see what the Ducks are truly capable of if we have better luck with injuries this season.
They have sone great pieces to build with, but it's not a finished work.
with no major injuries just at .500
with major injuries i hope they do same as last year and tank again at chance for hagens
No.
Your Kings' banner in the backround is still tilted lol
I’m excited for the new logo and jerseys. I’m excited for year 2 of Minty, Carlsson, and Zelleweger, LaCombe. Year 1 of cutter and maybe a surprise call up or two. Zegras redemption season to silence all the haters! Killorn picked it up after his surgery last season, will that continue? I’m curious to see if the new coaching for our Special Teams makes any difference. Our PP and PK were laughable before, large in part because of our talent but the team didn’t seem to be coached well. I want to see a system implemented and followed this year.
i'm sleeping on the ducks. maybe in 2029 they'll be fun to watch but until then, nope
Trevor Zegras, doesn’t get traded then? You don’t think 🤔
I’d love him on my team.. I think his full potential hasn’t been unlocked yet. Since he doesn’t have legitimate line mates to play with.. I think he’d be so much better on a 2nd Line Playoff Team.
Nah bro nothing the ducks have shown me tells me they’ll be good this year Gibson is on the decline hard
The Ducks and Flames will be competing for last place in the Western Conference.
Gonna miss Max Jones but last few years hes had injury problems. Going to be a few more years before they compete for a playoff spot. Like they way were building for the future.
Finally, something Ducks related that doesn’t say “rebuild”. This team should be ready to start competing again in the next couple of seasons.
They soon have to be better !Right?
That's a lot of high draft picks for no superstars
I think Gibson will be retired and people will still be talking about him being traded.
Quack! Quack!! Quack!!!
It's hard to say you like them, eh! 😂
Still a couple years away and they will be good then IF they gel as a team. I do believe they should trade Zegras though.
As a diehard ducks fan who went to a lot of there games this last season I am expecting them to better. the pool of talent is now there and it’s time to start showing the have what it takes to start being competitive.
Tomas Suchanek is currently our best goalie prospect.
Ducks are like the Oilers pre-McDavid. Every year, people think their young guys are going to take a big enough step forward that they'll become a playoff team, and it just doesn’t happen. My hot take is that I think the Sharks will become a playoff team before the Ducks.
if they can tighten their defense, they can move up in a hurry.
I don’t get the Ducks. They have a good young core and an NHL caliber goaltender. At some point they’re going to take a step forward… right?
I would go for Necas and Brobert unless they want keep their options open to get in the bidding war for Draisaitl.
Not sure, to me it doesn't look so bright… Too many ifs in this team… it looks like if everything is perfect they might get close to .500 record, but if one or two things happen they might be there for the draft lottery… 🤷
The smirk at 0:55 is the best
There's a framed picture of Gary Bettman on the shelf.
It only takes 3 or 4 of the young players to achieve critical mass, then they get swagger and take off.
Look at the Kings for Kopitar's rookie year. Then look at their second year.
The teams weren't much different, but the results were, and it only went up from there.
I try hard not to like the Ducks but they keep drafting awesome players.
if Zegras does end up being a long term player for the Ducks, which based on the contract talks last summer I would expect him to not be, then I want it to be on the wing and not at Center truthfully. He usually seems to play better when he doesnt have to worry about faceoffs or being in one spot on the ice but at the same time I dont think the asking price for a Zegras trade should be low which is where the problem is there.
Im also torn on Fowler at this point. Part of me wants to see Fowler be the next career Duck but he is so bad defensively that it isnt even funny and part of me wants to also see him gone.
Potential is a funny concept truthfully because its easy to have a lot of potential and never see anything ever come from it. if FHM is anything to go by if I was Pat I wouldnt be doing anything with our cap space but I also dont kno if I see a roster that is really all that improved over what we had last year either. I like Leo, Dostal, Mintyukov, and Gudas while not on board with Fowler, LaCombe, Zegras, McTavish at times (plus will see what happens with him as a RFA next summer) and would just want to at least get something back for Gibson to allow Dostal to be the guy going forward
No I think everyone has a common understanding that this team is too soft and easy to play against
I like that we are hanging onto the cap space until the team looks ready to take the next step. The next step means paying the young guys what they deserve and adding roster depth. So 22 million in cap space will get eaten up quick once Verbeek sees their ready.
Do talk bad the ducks
What I don't get is that the ducks need goalscorers and Daniel Sprong is just sitting there in free agency. Should be good for 20 goals at least. More with power play time.
This is gonna age well
You should sign Marner and make the playoffs, hyuck
Shannon get rid of that hideous Duck foot. Even though they are going to look like traffic cones on the ice with all the orange they will be wearing, at least they were smart enough to go back to the old logo
Honestly this is how I feel about the sharks (rangers fan). Some decent veteran additions in FAs and they have 2 very talented Cs coming in with Mack and Will Smith. Could be a sneaky team, not saying playoffs but could be an annoying team for your team to face if that makes sense.
I still think the Duck are likely first in line for the 1st overall pick this year. They have some decent pieces, but there's not real core other than Dostal and Karlsson. Gone are the days of Getzlav and Perry, Selanne and Ryan.
There are two major issues:
1. Lack of top-tier talent. It’s near impossible to make noise without at least one franchise player
2. Lack of development. We’ve had a top-rated farm for years and years with nothing to show for it (Jones, Steel, Comtois, Lundestrom, Drysdale, Zegras, etc)
Bonus: letting talent walk, especially on D. Lindholm, Montour, Megna, etc
Special teams. The power play was really bad, and the penalty kill was even worse. There were many games where they couldn’t set up the power play if their lives depended on it. That has to be a point of emphasis during training camp.
vatrano is getting traded, folks
"Stupid Hockey Guy 🤣"
Yeah as long as they stay pretty healthy across the board. I feel they will be a sleeper for sure.
After how they looked at the beginning of the year last year, i can totally see them having a big year. MacT looked like a gamebreaker, Leo was so smooth, and Minty looked fantastic. I think maybe they got gassed halfway through the season and it kinda fell apart, but still, they were impressive.
Ducks look like the Oilers of 2012. top 3 draft position coming up this year!
