That has GOT TO BE thee best way to tell a guy he's the next Captain of an NHL team ! I was the Captain of my junior hockey team here in Ontario, I know, peanuts compared to this…but the way I was selected was very important to me. I was nominated by a vote of my teammates. That meant the world compared to the coaches doing it alone. I'm sure some disagreed, but they never acted like it once the decision was made. We went on to win the All-Ontario Championship in the Junior C league, going 38-0-1 in regular season, and not losing a playoff game. I'm so grateful to my teammates, coaches, and fans, still all these years later (it was the 1994-95 season) and made me who I am today. Congrats J-T, welcome to the club 🙂
