Good pickup… nothing to lose.
If the goal is to get him NHL games, they wouldn’t have signed him to an AHL contract. This is Josh Ho Sang all over again – fans get hyped based on name recognition alone. Alex Nylander is not a reliable NHL forward, which is why he’s bounced around the league so much. Teams give him a chance based on his hands, but he can’t play in the show. Soft on the puck, useless without it. Not good enough for a top or bottom 6 role. He’s destined to be a career AHL all star.

well Leaf get him for nothing except money, if they go ahead and grant Robertson his wish and move him for a 2nd? round pick (perhaps a late 1st round pick) then it really is a win for the leafs, he likely is no worse than Robetson and less ijury prone
Easy pickup to make and take a flyer on. Our depth scoring has been an issue for years now… we have the money and ability. Start with the Marlies amd move up to hopefully become a 3rd line threat.
It amazes me how many another chances he gets…. he turns 27 next season/year and he still hasn't stabled himself an NHL spot
Leafs did not want an awkward situation where Alex gets NHL or PT and bombs, but now Willie said to management, 'please help my brother any way you can'. There are no expectations, and maybe by some miracle Berube can get Alex to be consistent.

I am happy about it, I would like to see them give him some time with Willy in preseason. Maybe there is some potential there. I do think Willy probably asked management for a solid though to get it done.

Im surprised where alex is at this point I saw him play against niagara team (ice dog) while he was with Mississauga team he had 2 goals that game and he was all over the place i thought he would be in better spot by now. Hopefully this is his chance To do so

I was hoping they would sign Alex & they did.
If it doesn't work out they didn't lose much at all but the upside is decent if they play on the same line bc chemistry is already there I would imagine.
