  1. Jack Campbell will get a shutout vs the Leafs this year. The hockey gods demand Dangle's suffering

  2. Some other tandems for next year ranked ahead of the red wings:
    LA – Kuenper and Rittich
Calgary – Vladar and Wolf (rookie goalie)
    SJ – Vanacek and Blackwood
    Minnesota- Gustavsson and 39yo Fleury
    CBJ -Merzlinkins and Tarasov
    Philly- Fedotov and Ersson
    Toronto- Stolarz and Woll
    Chicago- Broissoit and Mrazek
    Montreal- Montembeault and Primeau
    Buffalo-UPL, Reimer and Levi
    Pittaburgh-Jarry and Nedeljkovic
    Utah-Ingram and Vejmelka

To me, LA Calgary and SJ are all clearly worse for this year from a talent perspective. The rest of the teams all seem to be in a similar tier of "if it goes right, it could be great. But if it goes wrong, it could be a mess" which is what I see for Detroit.

  3. I'm not sure "feast" is the word I would use to describe how Maatta/Ghost faired in their sheltered 3rd pair role. Sure they were positive compared to the top 4, but they were barely over 50% in most analytics despite the easy deployment. Both Petry and Seider had more 5v5 points as well. The only thing they had going for them was actual goals for and against because they had a 103 PDO.

  4. Hope Mtl will not do any shortcuts to their rebuilt like detroit did, sad to lose all these years without any real top guns to work with, but i tend to trust Hughes to not sign-trade for a bunch of old dudes just to calm the ignorant part of the fanbase

  5. I think you all may be undervaluing the difference even a first year AlJo can make.

  6. Max Bultman is always a great interview. We are luck to have him as a reporter, well spoken and knows his stuff. LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘

  7. Already in his first year, I asked myself, is D.L our guy?
My answer is No, he is not our guy who will stand there and lift a cup in the future.

D.L is our guy in the process that the team is in today, namely in an ongoing development phase. A team that is made up of some really interesting young talent, has some older veterans and finally a larger amount of average players with some high salaries. A foreign legion is what S.Y has put together partly from what he took at back in the days, but also what he has done himself. But let's be a little honest here as fans here. Not many of them remain today, try to name them?

The only one who can sit on a hot seat is S.Y, as it is his mission to put together a team of a maximum of 23 players who can reach that goal. Then S.Y is considered GOOD in Hockey town and can never make mistakes, for example bad deals or set high salaries for average players. Very strange that RW has trouble getting a team together under the cap when they don't have 4 stars in their lineup.

The question is what goal the owner has and what patience they have as there is a bigger legacy to preserve for the son in the driver's seat. My best guess is that this is a mutual dependence they both (S.Y and the ownership group) have in existence. They both need to weigh short-term goals with long-term goals, however, there is a board that everyone has a vote. Last season are short-term goals, S.Y said, among other things, that Kane did not sign to sell seats, although it is clear that he did.

This year's off season is a smaller retool from previous years to sign new players in order to find points this year where last year we missed many for the team's disaster way of playing defensive game of 200ft hockey. Is not quite right to hand over all responsibility to the team's goalkeepers (3). The same needs to be done this year as well.

I personally think that RW will take a step back, I think we will finish with fewer points than last year. The teams in front of us have gotten better, I think there are at least 2 of the teams in our division that can do better than last year. The odds say a regression is possible, all other years have been steps forward and all fairy tales have an end, ask any Buffalo fan when :).

  8. Have to face the reality that MTL, OTT, and BUF have added better core of young prospects.

Add to this the 4 top dogs in the Atlantic who are already hard to beat and the SC winner.

Detroit decreased their scoring somehow is going to make it an optimistic season?

  9. I understand not wanting to hang your hat on a bunch of “If things pan out for (insert player here)…” type of conditional statements. That being said, I am more comfortable with those because the upsides for more players are higher than the last couple of seasons. Think the higher ceiling for guys popping off that have more skill and talent will assert itself in the next couple of years. We had some real patchwork lineups in the last couple of years.

  10. Stevie-Y said he liked having 3 goalies i believe, because it keeps a fresher goalie in the deck it helps the puck out..
Also:.. you guys haven't put this together yet?? United versus the second straight season where a goalie started out well and then played worth towards the end of the season??.. mmmmm🤔 MAAAYBE.. it's not so much as the goalies as it is the defense and them being worn out from being used down the stretch.. and then you have a freshman face the Rangers, Carolina Florida.. teams that are generate high shots per game.. yeah you're going to be a little worn out the last two to three weeks of the season when being called upon a lot.. used to plan that many games before they joined the Red Wings.. its more the defense.. I'll be fine if they went with three goalies just because the defense still need some patching up

  11. If the Wings take a step back this season, which is likely, it’s not the end of the world, they have a good pipeline and another potential top 10 pick, which can be used to acquire an NHL ready player for 25-26 because the cap space will be there as well.

  12. I’ve seen 5 aces… always incredible to experience. 3 were from 30 handicaps (me included when I was 12), and 2 from mid single digit (including me when I was 15). Last two I’ve witnessed have been playing public tracks with strangers… so cool to see them get one. Last summer, a woman hit driver in from 107. And 3 weeks ago saw a 68 year old man hit one with a 6 iron from 117!

  13. With the Mint advert, did you at least TRY to negotiate an interview with Ryan Reynolds about his endeavor to buy the Ottawa Senators?

  14. Let’s not forget that LA’s “system” was just a 1-3-1…… that’s scared hockey

  15. I would normally agree that having a captain is better than leaving the spot empty, but to toss in a Chiarot for a single season after we went Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Larkin for the previous 40 years would really put a sour taste in my mouth. I really appreciate what the Wings have done with that role, and I think it deserves more gravity than just tossing it around to a role player that's old on the team.
