Yeah we would be silly not to take a serious look. We will see.
It would be funny if our top six is 5 righties and one lefty and our top two defensive pairs are 4 lefties 0 righties
he’s not really a top target for me but i’m not against it like a lot of fans. the guy is still young and clearly has talent (back-back 20+ goals and 50+ points in 56 and 55 games) before he dealt with his off-ice issues this year. i think there’s a good chance he could fill out our top 6 and we’d have a much stronger team overall.
I’m in if they’re dumping him and it’s advantageous for us to acquire his services on the cheap (meaning, we don’t give up that much of a cap hit and we don’t give up that much of a trade acquisition). He’s a good scorer and if he’s got his lid screwed on tight, could be a great pickup.
Notably buffalo has been great as an organization dealing with mental health so what could go wrong
If they retain 50% I’d give up Krebs and 2 2nd round picks with 1 becoming a 1st if we make the playoffs and Laine plays 62 games or more
Edit: That might be too much but I still feel like we need a top 6 scorer to get us into serious playoff contention territory
I get the interest, especially if he’s dirt cheap, but I feel like he wouldn’t be a great fit under a defense-first coach.

He hasn’t played a full season in 7 years. What’s he worth if he plays 45 games? Not a lot. Benson or Zuck may end up with more points than him this season. I suspect the price will be too high to entertain.
