  1. Absolutely want to see Kaliyev given another chance, with a legitimate commitment from the coach and management group

  2. Great topic Eddie good insight. I’ve been wondering about him. Very strange the whole deal I’m confused. I want him to succeed with the Kings but why keep him on the team and then not let him play. 🤷🏻

  3. The Kings management, they are not hockey bright at all. When they trade AK, he'll go to another team and score 30 to 40 goals a season. Just watch it happen. You heard it here first!

  4. I'm a huge fan of his but from my friends who are either on or around the team, 100% of them say he's a goner. I hope he gets one more crack but he has to play on the top 6 with a passer and get more than slop power play duty with 25 seconds left.

  5. First 23 games Kaliyev had 12 points and was a +7.

His final 28 games he had 3 points and was a -10.

Not sure what happened, but things took a downward spiral after January.

  6. I'll tell you why nobody wants him. Arty is a one trick pony, and at the NHL level, that trick isn't all that impressive. Arty is known for his shot, but he can't get it off quickly or accurately enough to where he can score. If he's a winger like Ovechkin, let's say he can't play the point on the pp because he's not fleet of foot like Ovi and his shot doesn't come off his stick fast enough because he has to aim it. He can't rush the zone line Bedard and get his wrister off his stick and over the goalies blocker in the blick of an eye. What can he do? Can he improve? That is the question, but I don't think Arty will amount to anything for this reason. He did have play making skills in juniors, but that is juniors where the pace of play is far slower. I'm wondering what the Krak will do with Shane Wright. Wright is cocky but he wants to prove himself, be great, and has a high level of compete. If the Krak are willing to part with him, then maybe Arty can be part of a deal. I don't think Wright wouldn't mind starting out on the 4th line. I think he is ready for the challenge and ready to prove himself.

  7. No. Get rid of Kaliyev, need new players. Trade him for kakko or some promising rookie from mtl

  8. If Kaliev goes for a pic I’ll be so upset , Blake would have to be fired ! The team is on the brink of being super competitive for another year , we gotta put him on the 3rd line or trade for a player who can play on the 2nd or 3rd right away !

  9. It’d have been more likely he’d get a second chance if his trade request wasn’t leaked. The Kings would not do that as it tanks trade value.

Given nobody was interested in getting him for a mid range pick at the draft they may as well see how things go in camp. Get his value up and then move him.

  10. After the Lias Andersson trade initially looked so good by Kings management, getting a former 1st round pick and only giving up a 2nd round pick to acquire him but then it not working out after all in the end, I've got a sneaky suspicion that Blake wants something similar in return for Kaliyev.

I'm starting to think the league realizes that Blake isn't the shrewdest negotiator and with his contract nearing an end, know that he isn't really in any position to make unrealistic demands in any return for Arty and are in no hurry to give up more than much of anything for him, given his current situation. It really seems to have become a trend in dealing with the Kings of late.

  11. Playoff hockey is the opposite of regular season because the elite teams turn on powerful, constant tough checking, grinding games to win. The Kings couldn’t compete with Edmonton that had that kind of intensity of play.
The Kings seemingly are decent in regular season ordinary playing. The Kings aren’t built yet for the playoff grind and battles. They don’t exude that determination in playoff hockey

I will keep an open mind as this new season begins, but so far it looks like just mediocre hockey on tap.

  13. Great job as usual Eddie! Not sure what I’m going to do on my commute when go to three days a week for the summer but you deserve the break. Just a small note but I do believe greentree won’t be eligible for the AHL for 2 more seasons and has to stay in juniors if he doesn’t make the kings. Just thought you’d like to know
    Cheers

  14. unless they want a draft pick cld see AK going for another similar player that hasnt lived up to expectations or needs more playing time like Tomasino/Preds or Robertson/leafs..

  15. He is far from well rounded. He doesn't fit the profile of the tough game the Kings want to play. You can't live on offense alone.

  16. Getting rid of Arty is mistake cuz this player has been grossly mismanaged. He would for sure be the player that would come back to haunt us big time ! If we could have let Lewis go, I would have loved to see a Thomas-Turcotte-Kaliyev 4th line. Just give them an entire year in the NHL together and I guarantee all 3 will have success…not to mention it would be great to watch our youth all year long. Let them figure it out. It’s not like we are a cup contender so why not ?????

  17. From what I've read and heard on various podcast, they've been trying to move him for a while, and there were/are no takers. Even at the draft , nobody was interested. Other teams have looked and seen the same thing, a 1 dimensional player who really doesn't do anything well, except shoot it hard. I've heard him called Martin FRK 2.0, except FRK can skate. Tough spot for Arty to be in.

  18. Two minutes in and I don't want to listen because it's just so annoying. I hate it for him. But I listened anyway. I like to be optimistic too, but my skepticism has become rooted with Kings management. If we knew what the hell happened with Arti, then I feel like I could comment more confidently. With all the player management from the outside, I would see why Arti could get a shitty attitude. I have no issue with Lafi, but he got a lot of playtime, when maybe he didn't quite earn all of it. He played well, but you explained pretty clearly, Arti had great numbers early in the season. Englund was meh and he got plenty of ice time. PLD … no comment needed. I feel like they've just strung him along, keeping him in a box. That's no way to treat a person. It's lame and disappointing. I can't wait to see him do well elsewhere. If somehow he stayed and the management repaired the relationship and he did well, then my hope could be restored. Not holding my breath.
