We’re at that stage in our teams development were players like Cowan, Minten, Grebyonkin, Niemlea etc don’t need to come in and light the world on fire. If they can just become dependable depth players that can chip in 30-40 points thats truly all we need.
Before, there was no one behind Matthews, Marner and Nylander as they were the young core. Now we have the next wave coming in that just has to be good secondary options. They can be put in positions to succeed and not have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
We may have missed our first window with our core due to the contracts/covid but our superstars are still in their primes and if the next wave hits and gives us the cheap depth we’ve been missing, we’re right there baby.

I would rather give Greb a chance than extend contracts to guys who are over the hill.

Truly exciting to put it into perspective that he’s only 21. There is real potential for him to turn into a valuable NHL player.

Our pipeline may not include any real all star talent, but we have a lot of really solid prospects that can start filling in the depth gaps that we’ve so sorely missed

Have not been this excited for a Russian prospect since Kulemin.
Hopefully this our version of Kucherov (obviously not that good) but to get a 1st liner here would be amazing for this team’s chances over the next 5 years
