  1. He would have taken one of the golden spots from RNH or Hyman in time. We are getting older. That was the plan for him. It was going to be a fun ride. In St.Louis, that team is on the decline. Maybe this move will rejuvenate them but it could get rough

  2. A hockey career can be short. Bottom 6 players need to make as much as they can for their retirement. That being said, personally I made one decision in my life based on money and I regret it every day

  3. I'm an Oilers fan and I'll never criticize a player for taking money. Get your bag. But I will say there was potential for him to play with better players and have a deep playoff run here in Edmonton which could have potentially led to more money long term. He is definitely going to win less in St Louis in the near term.

  4. I support his decision and hope he’s excited to show what he can do on the Blues. There’s always an opportunity to doubt new experiences, but it’s best to not look back. As an Oilers fan I want both players to thrive in St. Louis. Sorry we couldn’t match

  5. Blues have 10 first round picks on the team. They are far from a garbage aging team. The Oilers are the oldest team in the league.

  6. People in their basements just love to try to critique and criticize somebody else's life

  7. an extra bit of $$$$ might not have been worth it to leave your home town. Time will tell. Still, the Oilers created the situation. The trade probably allowed St. Louis to keep him. If he is regretful… yeah, i agree with fire the agent feeling. Still, the extra coin is nothing to sneeze at and now being on a lesser team, they will be more apt to trot him out there nightly rather than send him to the minors due to a stacked roster.

  8. Why would he have any regret? A million in his pocket will definitely make his opinon on signing the offer sheet an easier pill to swallow.. Any "fan" that disagrees is a moron.

  9. Why would he? Edmonton fans are second only to Toronto fans in thinking every player wants to play there. Hahahahahaha. The fact is they missed their chance, they won't get out of the West next year.

  10. What a lot of people (understandably) don't understand about STL is that it is a very young team, on a rebuild, with a good stable of first & second rounders coming on line in the next two years, as they now stand w/ recent acquisitions very likely to be a W/C team. Holloway, and Broberg, get to be part of that project, building that team, its chemistry, much more opportunity to shine than being on the tail of an already elite contending team. And as said, significantly more cash on a short 2 year contract, after which they if proven get a huge payday. Cups are nice and all, if they happen, but a man needs to look after his self & family. Its also a lot warmer there 🙂

  11. Multiple things can be true at once. For example: He can be a little sad to leave his home province and be going further away from family, but also have signed the deal because he thinks its a better career move for himself.

  12. Offer sheets are quite frankly pretty awful because once you sign them how do you walk back into the room with your team afterwards. Especially on a cup contending team. My guess is one of the reasons why most people don’t sign offer sheets when they have the opportunity to is, the offer sheet has to be so big that they’re quite confident their current team will not match and that they are reasonably confident they will not have to be in a situation of having to go back in the dressing room after having essentially indicated that they want to play somewhere else. I honestly think Dylan Holloway looked subdued, but relieved he didn’t get matched.
Personally, in my life whenever I made a decision, that the pastures are greener in other side, I’m leaving and I’m never coming back. Whether that’s a relationship, my hometown, previous job, etc. I think we’ve all been there.

  13. My take is he's a young player and as such he could have stayed on for 2 yrs " And possibly have a cup ring", then become a UFA if he wanted. pretty sure he would bring in a good $ on the market…Too late now though.

  14. 1.Who wouldn't be sad leaving their team?
    2. He said in the interview it was a taxing week. He got a lot of flack from Oilers fans. He brushed it off as no big deal, but it affected him enough to mention it.
    3. Zoom interviews often feel more lifeless.
    4. 1 million doesn't sound like a lot, but he moved from the bottom bottom 1% league salary to about 40th percentile. Broberg went from bottom %ile to about the 65th%ile. About 35% of the league makes less than 2million. About 20% make league minimum or close to it.

For these players, this is a massive raise.

  15. This speculation sounds like a lot of cope to me. Good on the kid. You didn't know what the future holds. Guaranteed money is a lot more real than any potential things. Not to mention he'll get more minutes and opportunity to develop in the new place if you want to look forward.

  16. Send perry to the ahl to help develop the next kids and grab Nick Cousins for a year

  17. Yeah he is drying his tears on the newfound opportunity he will receive and the larger checks.

  18. I don’t know man. You go from playing with Leon to some unproven draft player. More minutes, but if no one good is feeding you the puck then? He thought he was under the microscope in Edmonton? Holy Fck is he ever now in St Louis..

  19. seems some fans need him to regret this for some reason, but he looked thrilled in his St Louis presser. more money, more ice time, chance to play top 6. of course he was sad to leave home, but that does not equal regret. hes stoked for a chance to play more and continue his growth.

  20. vibe im getting : oilers fans think he made the biggest mistake of his life | Rest of the NHL thinks the kid made a smart move for his personal self

  21. An aging basement team….
First of all the first post gone over in this video is completely wrong.
The Blues A. Aren’t a basement team. They were the last team to miss the playoffs in the west.
    B. They aren’t an aging team either. They’re in the middle of rebuild/retool and have like 14 players under the age of 25 with prospects still coming.
    C. The Oilers are literally the oldest team in the NHL

  22. In the NHL Network video you showed he seemed fine to me. The other interview video with St. Louis media I did notice something. There was a moment when it looked like realized the difference between EDM & STL media between the level of detail they know. Like when DH explained where home is cuz they didn’t already know where that was. Then when he talked about how diehard the fans are. They was a moment where it looked like he realized what he left. I wouldn’t say he regrets though.

  23. Where would have Holloway fit in the lineup anyways? Mcdavid, Hopkins, Hyman, draisaitl, skinner, arvidsson, kane, henrique, Perry. 3rd or 4th line? Blues may provide more of an opportunity for his career. It must have a been a tough decision for him to sign the offer sheet, to leave a contender and alberta.
