*The club is exploring its options and appears to be in the market for additional insurance in net. That’s understandable, given that Demko remains without a timeline as he progresses through his rehab, and is coming off of back-to-back knee injuries.*

*Multiple league sources have since indicated to The Athletic that Demko won’t be ready for training camp and preseason games. The club is hopeful that its Vezina Trophy finalist will be available to play on opening night — Oct. 9 against the Calgary Flames — but even that seems to be in question at this late stage of the summer.*

*There’s a bit of a cone of silence around exactly what’s occurring here. To this point, no one close to the situation will confirm whether or not Demko underwent a surgical procedure this summer.*

*PTOs: The Canucks brought in Sammy Blais on an American Hockey League contract that includes an invite to training camp. With Podkolzin moving on, the club wanted to bring in some additional forward size to enhance its overall options. Cloverdale native Jujhar Khaira was also on the club’s radar for such a role. A couple of names still out there that the Canucks have not shown interest in: Nick Cousins and Milan Lucic.*

=( sounds like it’s a bad injury not a minor injury if it’s going to take that long for Demko to possibly return..

I wonder where Silovs is going to be placed? Canucks backup or Abbotsford Canucks starter or backup?

  4. I’ve gotta give Patty Allvin props on the Podkolzin trade.

I know it was disappointing for some, but Podz was looking like the 13/14 forward and had 2 million in guaranteed money over the next 2 years, and would have been lost on waivers if he didn’t make the team.

So they pocked a 4th round pick, which can be parlayed into another player, possibly a defender/backup goalie.

And they get a player that, as of right now is probably as good (if not better) than Vasily Podkolzin on a PTO/league-min deal if he signs.

    Just a solid sequence overall.

Okay i’m a bit confused now, we’ve been hearing during the playoffs that demko had a good chance to come back and play if we made it to the conference finals. But now, it’s a discussion of *maybe* he had a surgery, he’s rehabbing, unknown timeline, etc etc.

does that mean they were planning to rush demko back if we made it to the conference final?

Looks like we’re gonna have to dig into Poolman’s IR space after all… Let’s get Lankinen, unless they’re really set on Nikita Tolopilo being the backup here.

When Demmer is healthy, we should do what Detroit did and run 3 goalies. If Demmer cant’ stay healthy for over 45 games, then Silovs and Lankinen are gonna have to play the other 40.

  7. He was [part of a CCM event/photoshoot](https://www.instagram.com/p/C-x_uwhJ6GW/?igsh=MXBrN2EyYWVja3d0eg==) on the ice in gear/position last week so like, at least he’s not on bed rest??

I’m obviously completely fine if he’s not healthy right for training camp/preseason/even the first few weeks of the season *if* it means he’ll be completely healthy when he returns, but this team never gets to have any thing good happen to them so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting nervous with all the uncertainty lmao.

Massive season for Demko. With one more season remaining on his contract, this will mark his true future with the Canucks. If he can get healthy and remain healthy then maybe he stays a Canuck long term but if this pattern continues the club will be forced to look elsewhere.

  9. swear to fuck whos ever green lighting the returning of our players when theyre NOT HEALTHY (ferland, pettersson, demko, theres a list somewhere) should be shot by a paintball gun naked in Gastown.

I appreciate that we actually don’t know much about demko’s status.

At least we aren’t leaking vital information compared to the Benning years.

Crazy how many people tried to bury Sara Civian with a shovel for saying Demko wouldn’t be back last playoffs. Comments on her credibility, her gender, photos on her twitter… that was really shitty.
