  1. I am a Pred with Pred glasses on. I will say this.
    – this trade looks great for both parts. Asky enters a Sharks future core group with a lot of young talent
his age. GMMG- I like what he is doing. It looks like he has a plan carved out. No sentimentality, like the Hertl trade. That has significance in this case, because that was the leverage needed for MG to get this trade done with Barry. It is Vegas’ original 1.round pick that Preds now get. MG also made it conditional for the benefit of Sharks-Sharks get to
shuffle this pick with their own 1.round pick so
that Sharks get to choose first. Not without substance. I like Barry’s ‘generosity’ here-looks like
MG and Barry got the tone and can do business together also in the future.
-Sharks and Preds atm are on 2 different levels.
Preds are in win now mode. The stakes are high.
Poile in agreement with Barry made the first initial steps before he threw in the towel by moving out Duchene and Johansen. I agreed 100% back then and it looks even better now with that mess Johansen and Flyers are in.
When Barry decided to lock down Saros-a domino chain started. No way Marchy and Stammer would go to Preds otherwise. Not Skjei either for that matter. I love the elàn Barry shows. He believes Preds are ready to lock horns with Oilers, Dallas, Avs, Knucks.
Now, this has consequences for Asky.
Preds will not risk this run with an unproven goalie.
Not even in the backup pos. Thats where Wedge comes in, and that was the nail in the coffin for Asky, both long and short term.
Asky believe he is ready for the NHL-Barry clearly does not. It can be added and not mentioned in this clip that Asky choked somewhat in both Admirals’ play-off runs and actually lost his nr 1 spot then-twice. In both cases he arguably contributed to their Calder runs ending. Barry may not have liked that.
    – It is not true that Barry have not tried to trade Asky-on the contrary. And this outcry from Asky clearly pissed Barry off. Barry is an old-school no nonsense guy. You dont mess with him.
The right thing for Asky would have been to show up at camp, try outplaying Wedge and then approach Barry. Asky has shown several times that he is a very emotional guy. For better, getting fans excited at Milwaukee, and now for a bit worse.
Rinne and Saros are completely different.
Quiet finns, always loyal to the team, no noise.
    Barry’s kind of guys.
    – it can also be added that Barry has now fetched legendary goalie coach Mitch Korn.
Mitch has worked with 5(!)Vezina trophy winners
and was with Barry in Caps when he won the Stanley Cup there. Their friendship goes back to
when Preds entered as an expansion franchise.
Had Asky stayed another year at Milwaukee he would have benefited from this guy’s experience and ability to create goalie winners. Oh well…

It is cool that Sharks fans seem to be very happy with this trade. Ofc they are. He is arguably the nr 1 goalie prospect in the entire world.
But he is still a prospect, very young for a goalie.
Sharks last year’s D was abysmal, dead last in the NHL. No Hedman or Josi in front of you, Sir.
Some rubber coming up. Have we seen such prospects go haywire before? More often than not, actually.
Lets hope this pan out nice, and that he shines with Sharks in the future

  2. I like it. Its a good trade for both teams. The Sharks needed a good young goal tender. What were tke Sharks going to do with the Vegas #1 pick in 2025, draft a goaltender? Nashville can draft or trade picks to make a cup run.
