They may end up finding someone in their prospect pool just as good as Laine for way less money anyway.

Well fuck him then.
You’d rather go play in Montreal than Minnesota? Yeah that makes sense. Have fun living in Canada with tons of people who speak French and playing for a team that has been in a rebuild for decades.

Due to his situation all teams that were interested in him probably had talked to him, so he knew what teams there were. He simply chose Montréal. I think it’s more that than not wanting to play in Minnesota.

Montreal was the perfect spot for Laine and he was perfect for what the Habs needed.

He’s a right shot left wing, right? Even peak Laine is not as good at hockey as Kaprizov, so he would be our 2nd LW… Err wait, we have 49M tied up in 22 year old Boldy. So, he would have to play right wing, which he may not want to.
Either way, it’s fine. We’re stale coming into this year with a dormant captain, most of our middle six forwards needing a bounce back year, 2 goalies needing a bounce back year and a highly touted young goalie who may be getting awkward 3rd starts?

Eh fuck that guy. We wouldn’t tolerant him taking games off.

Kinda unrelated to the article but is the Laine trade something Columbus still would do had the Gaudreau tragedy happened earlier?
Both of their potential big point getters are now gone, losing Johnny hockey like that is already catastrophic, but having traded away Laine already seems to put the cherry on top of this situation Columbus finds itself in.
