a Seattle player threw a stick to block an open backdoor pass that Detroit had a chance to score on and didnt recieve a penalty, 10 seconds later Seattle scored and won the game… if the Seattle player recieved a penalty, Washington wouldn't have made the playoffs

Caps are a black horse next season for sure. They're so unpredictable top to bottom, but I think they've improved a lot on offence, defence and in net (that goalie duo is extremely underrated). If they can snatch a good passing center from somewhere (and they might have the cap space with a good deal), they have a legitimate chance of going places. Don't see any real cup potential, but if they can make that big addition at center, I wouldn't rule them out of the competition.
Yesterday, when I looked, there were 4 teams on the poll that had a majority at finishing 5th or 6th in the Metro, which just keeps getting funnier.
I think Backstrom's LTIR is spent. Oshie's isn't, I believe. But the only reason Oshie's is available is not having to pay Kuznetsov's buy-out this year.
I hate to see it, but I think Sheppard might find himself with another team before or after the end of the season. Contracts are up at the end of the season for all three of their top goalies.
Vrana, Dubois, Mangiapanne, Ovechkin, Protas, Raddysh, lots of bounce back candidates upfront, solid defense and goaltending. They prove last season that they can make the playoffs with little to no offense, what can they this time around if they have competence upfront.
Good success to Dubois in particular, prove the crowds wrong.
