Dude played top pair minutes here for a decade and was pretty heavily maligned the entire time.

Tim Kerr was pretty damn underrated

League wide I think it’s John LeClair. Only 3 players in NHL history have at least three 50 goal seasons and are not in the Hall of Fame, LeClair is one of them (along with Rick Vaive and Tim Kerr – LeClair the only one to not do it in the 80s). LeClair is also the only player named to the 1st or 2nd All Star Team five times to not be in the Hall of Fame. Another league wide one would be Eric Desjardins who was on two 2nd All NHL teams and a regular on the Canadian national team in the 90s (Canada Cup, World Cup, and Olympics). Basically all but forgotten in the national scene for a guy who was a top defenseman in the league in the mid/late 90s-early 2000s.
Among the fan base I’d say Cechmanek may be the most forgotten superstar. His tenure was so short, he got a reputation for struggling in the playoffs, and being out of the league a year after leaving the team so I understand people forgetting. But in his short tenure he won a Jennings, was a 2nd team all star (in a different year than his Jennings win), 2-time team MVP, and has the Flyers career record for Sv% (.923) and GAA (1.96) with a minimum of 100 games. And this one might be a little too recent definitely still remember him and time will tell if he will be « forgotten », but I do think people sleep on how good Voracek was. Top 10 in points for the franchise, one of 9 Flyers forwards to be on a first or second All Star team. I think the « we never got Giroux help » narrative has gotten a bit out of control to make it sound like it was him doing it on his own when Jake is a top 10 forward in Flyers history.

Jakub voracek, nobody really ever talked about how good he was, even after almost winning a art ross

I might go with Steve Mason. He definitely has a solid number of fans, but I feel there’s still a decent% of PHI fans that never gave him credit & around the NHL he never got the love he deserved & always got thrown into the « Flyers never have good goalies » talk.
His sv% thru the years on pretty horrendous Flyer teams (especially on D)
0.917 sv% in 61 games
0.928 (!!) sv% in 51 games
0.918 sv% in 54 games
0.908 sv% in 58 games
Also had an outrageous 0.940 vs a significantly better NYR team in the playoffs where he got left out to dry in game 7.

It’s the Goalies we love to hate
Roman Cechmanek was pretty much the best goalie after Parent, playing behind a slow and outdated defense.
Michael Leighton pretty much carried the Flyers into the playoffs, putting up some of the best goalie numbers in the league along the way. When Boucher went down in the playoffs he stepped up again, and took them from the verge of elimination to the final round.
Steve Mason explained in another post.

Bob Dailey. He was the Pronger of the 70’s, 80’s. He could score, assist, defend and had a mean streak a mile wide. RIP Count
