Elliotte Friedman did a hit on Sportsnets morning show and basically said he thinks Pacioretty wants a guaranteed contract with bonuses and is pretty much waiting for the best offer and doesn’t want a PTO.

He did recently move to Detroit so his sons could play in a better hockey program so maybe he would rather stay there.

Also thought it was funny that Elliotte mentioned he randomly ran into Max in Toronto during the summer and when asked why he there he said to “vist some friends” now there is theses rumours of Toronto being interested in signing him.

Would be nice but the leafs cant afford him or need him. Weve all been drinking the koolaid for 2 long

    Why are you yelling Pagnotta??

Seriously tho, I think I’d prefer Robby sign then going after an older forward with a paper tissue Achilles tendon.

I don’t really see the downside here. the leafs need depth scoring – especially on the left side, *especially* if robertson’s not going to sign. say what you want about pacioretty but he’s been productive when he’s been in the lineup. 35 years old so you can sign him to low base salary and load up with performance bonuses for games played and points scored. if he sits out the whole year then you’re not losing out on anything. if he does hit all his bonuses then you’re laughing plus the cap hit carries over to next year when they get some cap relief.

Can we just make a fuck it trade for a LW or get JVR on a PTO to see if he can play on the bottom 2 LW spots and have McMann or Jarnkrok play higher?

I hope this is just posturing from the Leafs camp to show the Robertson camp that Toronto’s prepared to move past these discussions and take full advantage of the RFA.

Then again, I wouldn’t mind taking a flier on Pacioretty either. The issue isn’t the player, it’s the price and term: the guy’s a perfect buy-low candidate that could perfect round out the top-6, provide PP utility, while also serving as a great mentor to guys like Knies.

Give it up we don’t need a injury prone 35 year old player unless he is willing to play for NHL minimum salary between line

You know Tre is going to sign this sack of bandages. Papa Pizza loves him a big name past his prime.
