And so we come to the end of the list, with Matthew Knies. I won’t bother talking about him much, because if you’re here in the offseason, you know Matthew Knies, you almost certainly like Matthew Knies. Going into this season, I want to see the same energy from Knies I saw in game 5 this year, he laughs in Pastrnak’s face and then goes on to score the OT winner to stave off elimination. This should be a big year for Knies, I’m excited to see what he does with it. That about wraps up the PPP T25U25 list, if there’s a guy you liked the sound of and want to see more of, there’s a good chance he’s playing in our prospect showcase against the Habs this weekend. Hockey is almost back.

Big fan of his game. I don’t think he’s going to be an 80 point guy for his career, but I think he can be a consistent 25-30 goal guy and add 60 points, while being a force physically. He’s built for playoff hockey and we’ve seen him shine there two seasons in a row. My biggest hope for him this season is to get a deal done before he puts up another 20+ goals and we can get him on a fair deal with some term, like a 3×3 or 4×4 type deal

Last year was a big adjustment going to an NHL schedule. You could tell after he had that few days off to recover from his injury last season, he looked a lot more energized and engaged. He also looked a lot more confident at the end of the season and in the playoffs. Hopefully he recognizes how much stronger he is than most guys, and that he has the ability to do a lot of what he wants to on the ice. If he can maintain that confidence to bully guys out there, and keep his body in good shape to withstand a full 82-game schedule, he’s going to be a force out there.

I think people are being so careful to not overhype a leafs prospect that they’re underselling Knies. He showed flashes of very high end offensive skill throughout the year and I believe he’s going to be a higher point producer throughout his career than some people are giving him credit for.
