Juri kulich. He’s consistently put up numbers in the all but nothing to show for at the nhl level. I would have said Levi but we’ve seen him at a high level already when he first started.

Dahlin. Eichel had potential but not like Dahlin, best player of position for decades

I guess let’s look at current Sabres in the system:
Are we defining potential as highest ceiling or largest gap between current and ceiling? Such as Dahlin is currently a top 2 D with Norris potential, so would he have more potential than say Wahlburg who isn’t an NHLer and I see could have 2nd line C potential?
For me either way it’s Benson. He’s a 19yr old mid-6 who I could see with elite wing potential. Think of similar to Marner, excellent defensively, great passer, will still put up 20-25G
Also if we’re looking at how had the highest potential, I mean Hasek wins again. Backup who went to GOAT

I don’t know if this should be still able to be realized or anyone who has untapped potential. I’d say current is Levi. I think that kid could dominate in the league. History of go with Ennis. If he was healthy, who f-ing knows.

Either Nick baptiste or Justin Bailey. We’re going to have a hell of a 4th line someday

Dahlin. He still can be much better

Unrealized: Connolly
Realized: Hašek
Realized right around when the Sabres decided to trade them: Turgeon, Eichel

Perreault. His potential convinced many veteran players to come to a new franchise and even though they never won it all with him, if say his potential was realized as he quickly became one of the greatest NHL players of his era

If we’re counting potential that was actually fulfilled, Hasek. If unfulfilled, Tim Connolly. Current potential with career results TBD goes to Dahlin.

Most potential in an absolute sense? Either Dahlin or Eichel.
Connolly comes to mind as a quick answer, but I really think he was close to his full potential the back half of his career. He was great on both ends of the ice and almost a PPG for a couple seasons. The injuries took away some finishing touches on offense, but even without those it’s not like he would have been a top-10 forward in the league. Whereas Dahlin and Eichel’s ceiling would easily be top 5 at their respective positions.
And I say this as someone who has TC as my favorite Sabre and watched the 2006 playoff run in person.

Grigorenko. There were talks of him going 1oa. I don’t know if this was a massive miscalculation, or the Sabres failed to develop him properly.
