Bienvenue, Rajin Stajan !

I think it’s awesome that they’re bringing guys in that loved being a Flame, and are happy with taking development jobs.

A guy like Stajan worked hard every shift, and will be a great asset to work with young guys as a skills coach.

He did some time with the Hitmen, and now he’s climbing the ladder. Not sure how you look at it as an old boys club hire. It’s basically an entry level NHL Coaching job.

I don’t know a lot about behind the bench operations of other teams , so I wonder, is it common to have this many ex players a part of the staff?

I don’t see any downside for hiring passionate flames that love the team/city for entry level jobs. Conroy didn’t seem qualified when he was first joined the management group, he’s done everything the right way, he’s passionate and driven.

This “Old Boys Club” = Bad idea needs to be put away. It’s reductive and misses the point of whether it’s a good hire or not. Plenty of those hires turn out great and the Flames have examples of that in their org.

The Oilers were seen as having that for years but the issue with them and others doing that isn’t necessarily that they hire Old Boys, it’s that they can’t adequately measure talent and fit in their org. That’s a management and analytical failure

  5. Whatever happened to the 03 World Junior scandal? Did they ever name the players responsible? I want to believe Staj wasn’t a part of it but you never know.

  6. He’s not old so isn’t part of an old boys club. The old boys club are old boys with long careers in hockey who keep getting recycled into leadership roles

Really think even tho conny is new as a gm the man knows what hes doing stajan was an amazing flame his 2 cents cant make a difference ain’t like hes an assistant coach or anything pretty much just another mind to pick and a mentor for the young guys I’d rather have someone who played the game helping me then someone who’s only read a book
