I know the questions are pointless and even asking would result in a non answer but this guy is such a punk man.. behaves like a spoiled, sheltered and privileged child.

  2. LtColumbo93

I see no issues with this. If this bothers you, you’re a fuckin weirdo.

  3. Strangle1441

Listening to what he said and how he said it, I have no issues with this

    The headline is clickbaity

A lot of us were ready to trade him months ago, now it’s how are extension talks.

And this 100% includes me. I am less depressed over the Bruins loss at this point.

  5. I just want him off this team, hes not gonna take a pay cut or stay at the same salary, so its gotta be farewell. Realistically though, we’ll sign him for 7 years at 13 million and ensure we suck forever

Last opening season presser as a Leaf!

If he gets a new deal he gets a new deal. There is no amount of bitching on Reddit that’ll stop that. MLSE is a money making machine so cup or no cup they still win financially. Ain’t any of us bitching bout Marner is gonna make or break their decision lol.

  8. Idc as long as the Leafs don’t resign him until after that playoffs

  9. Bronco1919

This is Streisand effect in full force. Had he just answered questions with some PR coaching like most other players do, it would be less of a story. I think of how draisaitl handled his contract negotiations.

Quit messing with him. He wants he gets.

  11. leafsruleh

I would have preferred he let them all ask one contract question each, at the same time, but this is good too

  12. JamesCurtis24

Tbh that makes two of us, I’d also like to close down the contract talks with Marner…

  13. GolfIsGood66

They should ask him what he thinks about Crosby taking less than he can so the team has a better chance to win.

  14. swervin-mervin

Can we walk him to market and negotiate from there? The Leafs shouldn’t negotiate against themselves and end up paying above the actual market for the player.

  15. dhoomsday

I wish reporters would dog politicians as much as they dog hockey players and coaches.

  16. MrFahrenheit742

This wouldn’t be a headline for any other player in the league.

  17. DontToewsM3Bro

Can’t the leafs just trade this bum already

8 years of failure but shit this year is going to be different

  18. Current-Own

Read the Sun article by Lance Hornby. Marner says he came in as a child. I’m sorry but that is such an immature response. He came in as a child. REALLY? He came in as a child. I just do not get Mitch Marner. He still hugs Carlton the Bear. That statement should tell you where his head is at. He’s wrong for this team

  19. Extra-Size

I like it, get ahead of the questions and focus on the season

  20. This seems weird to say, but I think we’ll have to lay off Marner for a bit until we get closer to the playoffs. He’s going to score at a 90-105 point pace like he does every year in the regular season, we’ll just have to see if anything’s changed.

Everyone seems to have a clickbait-y headline about what to expect from Marner or what’s Marner going to do or whatever. He’s been remarkably consistent in the regular season and there’s no reason he won’t continue that.

  21. ClammyDefence

Won’t someone please think of the millionaire!?

  22. Life-Analysis476

Should maybe take an example from what Crosby did and sign a home friendly deal if he actually cares about winning and his “hometown” team.

  23. VH5150OU812

And that is how you handle that. Let the team and your agent work on it. If something needs to be announced, it will be done at the appropriate time.
