Sharks are in stage 1 or 2 of rebuild…getting Askarov is speeding things up but except for Dickinson, that defense could use some love…going the right way guys, keep it up on building that prospect pool like Montréal !! I like what they are doing 🙂
This was a GREAT start to the rebuild. Three things right now. Number 1, play the kids. Get them up playing real minutes against NHL level players. Number 2, draft or sign a superstar D-man. Everyone right now is good, but they need a marquee name on D. Lastly, finish those bad contracts and get the cap space back.

Lol, I get you have to shock, but there is no way this team isn't 8th in the division. Two taleneted rookies just don't take you from the bottom in today's NHL, especially when you look at how other teams are building and how much time it takes them to make their way up.
There seems to be a leak at SDPN HQ that didn't get to Steve.
As a fan, it's a no pressure season. Let the kids cook, be more competitive (no more 10-0 losses) build chemistry, build culture and team identity.
Another good draft pick, maybe low 60's in points..

Sharks are definitely building up their roster pretty great. Now I personally don’t see them getting past 7th in the Pacific, and I’d give them a sweet spot of 65 points for the season. I like what they’re doing, but I’m going to be realistic for their odds, they have a rough road ahead between Oilers, Vegas, and Canucks for a good chunk of their points. Goalie pairing I don’t expect them to have Vanecek for playing major time if at all, Blackwood is definitely the number one goalie for the Sharks, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him share the role with Askarov to get him situated in the NHL full time
Damn Adam and Jesse are optimistic. I got us in 7th with around 25-30 wins with another top 5 draft pick

I did a breakdown of the Pacific division for the Canucks subreddit. My basic analysis for San Jose was "Who cares?" They could double their point total from last year and still miss the playoffs. Worse still, they don't have a ton of upcoming draft picks and they have no retention slots, so they can't get more picks by helping facilitate trades.

Am I the only one who thinks they might be half decent? I could see them leapfrog Anaheim, Chicago, Calgary and maybe even Seattle/ Minnesota/ LA. If the young guns pop off they could make noise IMO

The Sharks were historically brutal last season. I still remember a shell-shocked kid in the stands, holding a sign that said it was his first NHL game and his birthday, while he sat through his team being slaughtered at home 10-1 by the Canucks. I also felt sorry for their goalies, who every game were thrown to the wolves and then thrown to some more wolves. Maximum suck got them Celebrini, but when you do that to a young team, you have to be worried about the damage you do to their psyche, because some players can get really good at dealing with losing. They did a good job bringing in some veterans in the offseason and have a ton of cap space to work with. They'll be less embarrassing, but probably still be competing hard for the first overall draft pick.
8th. They could get 30% more points and still be last.

As a Sharks fan dating back to my grade school days some 30 years ago, never have I been so excited for this franchise. This forward corp is markedly improved from a year ago. The defense is still needing some help still, but they are still improved over last year. Additionally, and I'm surprised nobody is talking about this, but Warsofsky is now the bench boss who has an established reputation of icing teams that play quickly and that play aggressively. Personally, my bold prediction is a net 100 goal improvement from last season. Probably 50-60 more goals scored, and a reduction of goals allowed by at least 40, but probably will be higher than that by the time game 82 rolls around. I think 70-75 points is the realistic number this team gets to, but if the kids hit, the offense gels, the defensive corp bends but doesn't break as often as last year, and our goalie squad at least battles with keeping the puck out of the net I think at minimum 7th if not 6th is attainable for team teal.
Anyone drafted from 2018-2022 has essentially had there development track screwed up, I think in the next 2-3 years your going to see some late bloomers come in, you even see it right now in a consistently good team like Boston there opening up 2 spots in the middle 6 for rising prospects they just need to take what’s in front of them, I will say hopefully will see some studs come in the next few years that we’re drafted during that time.
