It can carryover into next season if it puts us over the cap this season.

Bonuses that make a team go over the cap can be charged to next years cap hit instead

  3. Here’s some of the [details](https://puckpedia.com/salary-cap/performance-bonuses-and-carryovers) that make this less of an issue for this year.

*While performance bonuses count against the salary cap, teams are permitted to exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses, to a maximum of 7.5% of the Salary Cap.*

*If a team exceeds the Salary Cap due to performance bonuses, then any amount over the Salary Cap is considered a Bonus Carryover, and counts against the cap in the next season.*

Kane Bonus’ hit the following year. So this is a 2025 – 2026 problem when we have to cover an extra $2.5m…. 😉

Vet contract performance bonuses can be pushed to next years cap.

  5. Pretty sure you can go like 7% over the cap with performance bonuses in a year so this shouldn’t be a big issue.

  6. Two things:

    1. Why are there currently 5 comments saying the same thing, bonuses over the cap hit next year?

    2. Is this kind of performance distribution common? Huge bonus for small number of GPs, smaller bonuses for higher impact things (playoffs, 60 pts)? Or is the 1.5M for 10 GP entirely a way to skirt the cap?

    Lmao

I think bonuses can count on next year’s cap?
