I’m willing to give Berube time here. If he has the secret ingredient to make the loaded up power play work, great.

No no keep it like this! Tavares can get in PP2.

I’ve never been against the idea of a loaded up power play. There’s a reason it works for a lot of teams.

But it can’t be predictable and slow like it has been at times.

Get McMann to watch some Hyman PP clips and put Tavares on PP2 for Robo.

  5. I love Morgan, but please for the love of god put him on PP2

  6. Darkenmal

Switch Rielly and Ekman-Larsson around *please*.

Aslong as Robertson and Nylander are split up

    /s

I like the look of PP2. Don’t really like PP1 since it’s the same as the last few years and has been awful outside of the first 2 months of the season.

Once again I ask why we don’t give Matthews the full 2 minutes and rotate the other 4 guys between two units. A good mix of a playmaker and second shooter + netfront something like

Matthews always in a spot to shoot

Unit 1: Domi, Tavares, Robertson, Rielly

Unit 2: Marner, Nylander, McMann/Knies, OEL

Basically always have two shot threats and a playmaker. Every other star player gets more PP time doing this from Ovi to McDavid

Don’t need to see much more of Mo on PP1, thanks.

Not liking Rielly on PP1. Was really hoping we wouldn’t do that again this year. It will gimp the powerplay.

  12. Jonesdeclectice

I was excited about the new coaching staff and their fresh take on 5v5 and special teams. Seeing the exact same 5 guys playing PP1 doesn’t exactly instill a great deal of excitement.

Split the big 4 on 2 units and make them compete against each other.

    move willy to pp2

he consistently wastes so much time dangling air at the half boards only for nothing to come of it

“Things will be different with a new coach!” This may very well be true but I’m not optimistic about the PP seeing this continuing set up.

  16. moabthecrab

The more it changes, the more it stays the same.

  17. Why won’t they try OEL in the top unit? Rielly is shit as a PP QB.

  18. Lily was always best at pp in my memory… When Reilly was out he was amazing

In my opinion with out a bomb from the point there is no fear so penalty killers can drop back a bit more.

One heavy line hasnt worked the last 8 years. Surely it will now.

  21. I’ll take what I’m surprised is a rare positive take in here and say how much I love PP2.

Knies dominating net front, Domi with all his passing abilities dishing it all over and OEL, Robertson and Pacioretty all very strong shooters, there’s not really one you can key on.

I don’t think that unit has been this good in years.

  22. sadleafsfan8834

Hey this powerplay surely hasn’t failed us for 6 years in a row in the playoffs right??

Try ekman Larson on pp1 ffs.

  23. Mo just can’t be removed from PP1 can he ughhhh. He has no shot threat at all and when you add Marner not being a shot threat this is why it’s so easy to defend our PP.
