ugh.. feel so bad for the kid.. not great for his development either. get well soon David

  2. greasydrg

Ouch… and apparently Laine is a notch worse

  3. Throaway44009988

Hes just had a really awful last 14 months

Just brutal in terms of his development

  4. Moresopheus

Hope the young guy bounces back on the quicker side of 5 months.

  5. Brutal. There goes his D+2 season. He’ll likely need a full season in Laval next year too for development so it could be 4 years after his draft before we see him in Montreal.

  6. I think he worries me even more than Laine. That could be horrible for that kid’s future in the NHL and a big lost for our team. At least we had a so-called « logjam » on defense, but I’m really sad for David.

  7. xXxWeAreTheEndxXx

Poor kid. That fucking sucks. Basically a whole year of development gone

  8. only 19 and it’s like what the third time he have a knee injury?

Maybe unpopular opinion but I would use him as a trade bait for a young forward.

  9. With all this time lost in development, I’m worried he will never be the player the Habs brass thought he would be… shame, especially with Michkov looking to start his Calder campaign this week

  10. This rebuild went from sounding amazing to feeling blah within a week damnit!

  11. ChickenLynx2

Yeah if i was him i would take no vacation this summer to win back some of what he was supposed to gain this season.

  12. Best of everything and wishing a full recovery. 🙏

  13. ConfidentMemory1201

Is it the same knee that’s been a problem for him already?

  14. CarlSK777

This feels worse than the Laine one because he’s just a prospect getting started with high expectations

  15. Secret-Ad3498

That’ll be a total of 0-20 games in the AHL maybe more if they make the playoffs after a dissapointing season in Europe (not by his fault). That’s rough.

  16. thebrah329

Jesus that long. A year missed of development, for someone already behind is bad. I honestly don’t have good feelings about him turning out.

  17. HanshinFan

Feel for the kid. Hope he bounces back and that his health returns to where it was, both for the player and for the person.

  18. Acceptable_Major4350

It really didn’t look that bad when he fell, I worry most is that it’s the same knee and it’s just not strong enough.

  19. scoutinglane

Now we truly need to turn one of our younf left dman into a right dman.

  20. bloodrider1914

Why does this team have to be so fragile? Every damn year. In a bs preseason game too.

  21. BigBoy990

Awful news for the kids development, this was gonna be a huge year for him in Laval.

And now we’re gonna have to hear the most annoying people in the fanbase yap about Michkov while Reinbacher doesn’t even get to show his worth, even though we were never gonna draft him no matter what.

  22. WirelessWerewolf

It seems to me his injury happened even *before* the hit, while he was breaking. His left leg bent in a weird way (to my eyes). If so, it does not bide well. Poor guy.

  23. alldasmoke__

That 5 minutes was crazy. You had to be there kinda thing.

  24. regman1011

I feel like ever since Price injured his knee we’ve been cursed

  25. Unless they want Guhle there long-term, we always needed another RHD to go along with Reinbacher and Mailloux. I wonder if they explore a potential trade for someone further along or if it’s a priority in the 2025 draft.

  26. Seasonal reminder to never have hope for anything regarding the Canadiens

  27. bcgrappler

    Well fuck,

This is really bad for the rebuild in all honesty.

Heal up kid, you deserve better than this.

  28. Tabarnak… I was less worried about him than Laine. His ‘incident’ looked like he ‘twisted his ankle’ or something. This one stings, not from a line-up perspective, but as far as stunting his development. /tableflip

  29. emotionaI_cabbage

I’m not worried about this guy at all. He’s got a lot of talent and a lot of skill. He’ll be fine.

  30. deimos289

This guy wont play for the habs regularly sadly, probably 1 or 2 seasons then its over

  31. 90s-kid-nostalgia

He’s still really young but this is knee injury number 2 (3?) at this stage of his career. That’s got to be at least a little concerning, not to mention the year of lost development. Feel bad for the kid. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and can develop into the player the team hoped he would become.

  32. Some perspective: Jayden Struble got injured almost every season post-draft. To the point that people were calling him Juulsen 2.0 and entirely wrote him off.

It sucks for David and delays his progression, but that’s also all it is: a delay. There might even be some blessing-in-diguise somewhere down the line. Lessons and off-ice habits that couldn’t be learned any other way. David’s a smart kid, he’ll put the time to productive use.

  33. hunglikejesus_

Everything from Price fumbling his name, his horrible development path, and now 3 knee injuries in the last 2 years… this pick was cursed

  34. Strong_Reference_762

It has to be pretty demoralizing for the longtime members of the team to lose players long term with such frequency over the past few years

  35. thegreaterikku

We need to trade for Petry again….

He needs to break whatever deal he made for that Stanley Cup run.

  36. Tarquin_Revan

I know it’s not the same equivalence but that Michkov pick (so far) looks even worse with hindsight.

Hopefully he can salvage an NHL career after so many injuries…
